In South Chicago, the arts are part of a "green: way of life. The Artists Garden created by the South Chicago Art Center is a respite of art and nature that grew out of a once-abandoned city block. The sculptures were made by local artist couple Maria and Roman Villareel, who created welcome signs, built a gazebo, planted flowers and vegetables. If you visit in May, you can attend the 10th Ward Green Summit that includes tours of the energy efficient affordable housing and classes on going green.

The Way of the Cross is a march and re-enactment of Jesus Christ's stations of the cross that is held on Good Friday.
Hullappa’s family has been receiving help from World Vision India through Sangamesh, who is a sponsored child.Hullappa’s family has already been struggling under a lot of debts. They had borrowed a sum of Rs.40,000 which is around ($ 816)sometime back, which they were not able to pay back. Now, including the interest the sum amount stood at a staggering Rs.1, 60,000(($3265) four times the amount they had borrowed.Hullappa’s sons are now working at a construction site in Bijapur, they have migrated alone, leaving back their children, wives and father in the village. But there are many families in the village who have already migrated to cities and other neighboring states in search of alternate jobs, making the lives of children vulnerable to a whole lot of issues.Hullappa lost all the onions he had cultivated on the two and a half acres of land he had.

Radio Arte, a youth-driven Spanish-language station with a public-radio format, is a Latino-owned, bilingual, youth-driven public radio station that promotes socially conscious journalism, provides media-literacy training; and creates programming that showcases music, issues, and events that are not featured prominently by mainstream media. Radio Arte was acquired by The National Museum of Mexican Art in 1996 and offers a comprehensive bilingual one-year media-training program to hundreds of youth (ages 15-21) each year.
