Breakfast at Mark's place today, with food from Starbucks. From top to bottom, turkey bacon and egg sandwich on whole grain English muffin, spinach and feta wrap, classic coffee cake, and blueberry scone. Mark has a very nice condo with a cool 1950s(?) coffee table, and an interesting collection of mugs. I also like his napkins.

...when cleaning up, can bring a fresh feeling in our living spaces...as we are not always in the mood or have the time to invest in bigger changes.

Here, just the vintage books, which have since recently been serving decorative purposes on the coffetable surface, have been shuffled up, bringing up the lighter one with the golden lettering.

It is worth noticing the big impact that even bits of colour have in our spaces.

As an additional change, the porcelain form, serving as a candleholder has been placed on the books instead of next to them, sitting on the same paper doily that was "accidentally" forgotten under the books, in the previous arrangement ( seen in the comment section ).

I find that being p r e s e n t when cleaning, eventhough I might as well be out enjoying the sunshine at that point, has a more creative effect to the whole process and actually incorporates some decorating in it....I quess this is how traditional housewifes used to do it in the past right?

...when decorative tips and ideas where not widely offered and presented via magazines, books and recently blogs and TV shows...and when people were more concentrated on themselves in the most unselfish way.

Being in an increased need for simplicity after the current chaos of prints, packing materials and paper boats everywhere around us, they have all found their new places, neatly organised and we can live again normally :)

"Reading"

#4 of 365 - Project 365:2013

January 4, 2013

Wow, I thought I had posted this, but was browsing my own stream and realized I never did! In fact, I hadn't even processed it. DOH! Probably because I wasn't too excited about it. Kind of a copout photo, but I'm not going to beat myself up over that on this 365. I pretty much didn't complete my last 365 because I started not having time to get those 'cool' and 'fantastic' shots, so I just stopped doing them. I'm content this time around just to have a shot. Any shot. Anyway... it's up here now!

These are some books on my coffee table. The Lewis Black book is hysTERIcal. My favorite book though is on the bottom. No, not any deep philosophical read, or treasured fiction, but a guide to good wine. :) I really should read more. I used to read ALL the time, plowing through 2-3 books in a single week. Now days, it's hard to complete one book in a couple months. I do enjoy it, just not sure why I don't do it.

Any thoughts on that??

I adore white and tones of it, so my favorite white items were gathered together for a photo shooting on the coffeetable.

Let's see what we have here, clockwise:

-> Big, round ceramic vase form the Ikea PS

collection

-> mid century milky glass candleholder, scored

at Ebay for €1 (plus shipping!)

-> on it, a pair of simple, dotted, white

porcelain condleholders from Zara Home

-> white, tall jug, frequently used as a vase,

from Habitat

-> it is standing on a set of two, metal candle

basis, immitating lace from Ikea

-> teapot from Ikea

-> circular candleholder, consisting of 12

pieces, from the Ikea PS collection.

-> a little bowl, usually holding sugar, brought

from Brussels in 2001

-> a set of 6 leather sousverre / coasters, with

circle designs, from Habitat

-> a little boat bowl, from "Casa" in Brussels

-> a double bowl, reproduction of a well known

60's design, from Habitat, here used as a

box

-> Mr Rebrant, a statue which is actually an

eraser, brought from his museun in

Amsterdam

-> A tin of porcelain from "Seleti"

-> A carton of milk from "Seleti", both presents

of my sweet mother, for my new home : )

The cirlcled pillow in the background in from Ikea and so is the almost 10year old couch.

The surface of the coffeetable is that of an ex-Klubbo one, adjusted on wheeled legs, previously belonging to another coffetable.

Black Curver Curvoform "Orion" coffee table, produced in Netherland in 1974 - 1975

and an orange Artemide Nesso lamp, design by Giancarlo Mattioli & Gruppo architetti urbanisti citta nuova in 1964

This lamp is an evolution of the first edition, they have a plastic tulip feet & an fiberglass reflector

(first edition have feet and reflector in fiberglass)

The body of this table is made of painted "PUR" resin and the central tray in thermoformed plastic

also exist in white, brown or yellow (and ???)

I have no idea who is the designer but from long time i am certain thats not Jean Maneval for "Furniture de France" as many merchants claim wrongly !

"Everything is in the shade"

This Fiberglass globe released really an another light than plastic globes products afterwards !

Thursdays are TV night around here. The boyfriend and I watch Survivor, 30 Rock (seen here) and The Office every week on my fancy Mickey Mouse TV set.

That's not a great picture, technically speaking. It is over processed, the high iso is ending out with the quality, but I just love it anyway.

This sleeping beauty melts my heart! (And according to herself, Minnie is supporting the bench monday idea... lol)

So, HBM!!

Essa não é uma grande foto, tecnicamente falando. O iso alto acabou com a qualidade, ela está super processada, mas eu a adorei mesmo assim.

Esta bela adormecida derrete meu coração!

...taken on 07.02.08, as you can see, that was exactly 20 days after my permanent arrival in Germany. The truck (!) with my things from Greece had arrived and we had already made a few visits to Ikea.

Here: part of the couch, which belonged to Jan

"Lunna", the super comfy Ikea chair, must have been the first

thing we bought for the house. It was a gift from my sweet mother

coffeetable surface screwd on Jan's previous coffetable legs with

rollers

a book about American design, probably the 1st book I bought

in Germany

my rattan stools

two pillows made from Habitat kitchen towels

a set of four Braniff planes

Boy!...it sure feels great looking at this picture and seeing how things have been evolving!

Classical form fits to all interior styles.

...and on the flokati, a new pile of magazines is being created...

German editions of Architectural Digest, to which I 've subscribed...
