How to destroy the brake, shut down the power unit and put the handbrake on, on a 37 in French! 37170 having returned from TGV line hire in France still has evidence of its holidays!

A week after Class 37/4s were thought (by quite a few!) to have ended on the Cumbrian Coast, I finally caught up with a loco I'd not had in nearly 21 years. 37424 was also the first loco Dad and I travelled behind on the West Highland Line, almost 30 years ago on 6 February 1988 when it worked the 05:50 Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William and 14:15 return.
more shots of 37s from when I first got into photography. a slightly less grotty 37403 stands at barrow station. this is much more cleaner than it was later in its service. less can be said about the grotty subway underpass underneath which has since been replaced alongside cumbrian coast 37s

Some say that the Growler was on a running-in turn from Crewe, whereas others say that the Crompton failed at Pontypool Road and 37695 was the resue loco.
I do know that Doctor & The Medics were at No.1 with "Spirit In The Sky"
The future of the two locos has different endings
33021 was withdrawn September 1996 and currently sits in preserved/stored status at Tyseley.
37695 was not so lucky, being withdrawn in March 2004 and cut-up in April 2008. RIP.
DRS Class 37/6 No.37605 behind Class 37/0 No.37259 at Ipswich with 11:30 Willesden Brent - Stowmarket on 23rd November 2017 running 23 minutes late.
Built by English Electric in 1962 and withdrawn by BR as 37 032 in 1993, it also carried the number 37 353. It was first allocated to Hull Dairycoates. It was unofficially named "Mirage" at Tinsley in 1992. It arrived at Sheringham in September 1994 and made its first movement on NNR under it's own power in August 1996. Its first passenger service on NNR was on 31 August 1996. It then ran until last year when it was withdrawn for overhaul. It is intended to restore it to as is reasonably possible to its original condition.
