Taken a few months ago, an eastbound South Shore train departs the Hammond station after a portion of the platforms were removed.
Gone are the days when the local collieries created a constant cloud of pollution over the gritty towns and cities of West Yorkshire. Nowadays we live in a much cleaner environment. In fact where nineteenth century industry dominated the skyline a good deal of greenery prevails. Turning to the railways for 150 years virtually all freight through Featherstone would have been coal. These days regular trains of Biomass are the key cargo. In this case 60096 is seen in charge of the returning empty stock 6M09 Drax to Liverpool service.

Tough start of a new week. Bad results in several stupid tests at school lately and a lot of work to finish before intense days of practice tests next week. You see what I'm talking about ?
So after courses me and Loic had to made a new shot for the school project we've been working on all the weekend. The theme is "Do it as..." a (famous or not so) photographer.
The original feelings we had with this work were very great, we found we had to understand the style of a photographer and shot new pictures with this particular style. We also have to redact about this photographer, define his style and explain his pictures.
In fact, that's basically less interesting, we have to purely copy two pictures of a photographer like a xerox and describe "technically" the original pictures.
Whatever, it's been several weeks that I wanted to make a tribute to Dustin Diaz with this theme, cause he has been inspiring for me. But in the end, I was really unmotivated to just copy his work.
Don't think that's the better way to learn something...
I've been working on learning how Dustin does his pictures for few months to inspire my own ones and be able to shoot something decent for this theme.
Finally I decided to change and try some new things, I wanted to make fashion pictures outdoor with the spring feeling, I found great fashion pictures by Ted Grambeau, but that was not really what I wanted to do. I've shot some pics as Ted Grambeau this Sunday with Emmeline, but finally we ended with the Dustin like picture in the subway that I really liked.
With no fashion photographer name found, I decided to get back on my first idea, that's why we had to shot another one this Monday with Loic.
First we went to a lake outside Toulouse with Melissa and Florent where Loic wanted to shoot his theme picture. Found the place interesting and decided to go for a fashion shoot with Melissa for today's shot. After that, we went back to my place to pack the rest of the things we needed for my DD shot and we went to the center to find the right spot.
A lot of hard work. Hope you'll enjoy it cause we don't have that much sleep theese days...
Love to read your comments. Take care, see ya tomorrow.

One of the hundreds of photos I've done and never posted. It was taken at the Palm Springs Gay Pride Festival last November.
After yesterday's Monumental decision by SCOTUS on Constitutional rights, I felt it was the right time to finally post it.
Once I had finished my tea it was time to let my over hair sprayed hair down something that was to become harder than taking down the Berlin wall.
The first image shows how much grey I have and how little hair up top :-( but it is worth the perusing in the hope that it will start to look better. some days it does others it doesn't.
the middle one is, the how I look first thing in the morning! kind of look. And the last one is my stay at home and answer the door hairdo.

The plumage of an immature male Rose-breasted Grosbeak has characteristics from both its parents: a white eyebrow like its mother and a red breast patch like its father. As it molts, the Grosbeak loses its mother's white eyebrow as the feathers on its head transition to solid black. This immature Grosbeak is still molting since a hint of its mother's white eyebrow is still visible.

Not all change is good. In Nova Scotia, much of the time, change brings more loss of jobs and livelihood. The young people have to look in other places for their living. Less and less of the fishermen are able to compete with the big companies.
In our years hanging out on the east coast, we have had the good fortune to meet a good many of the area's fishermen, great people! It saddens me to see scenes like this as, to me, it is a reminder of what is happening to a whole lifestyle and a valuable part of our heritage.
UPDATE, August 4, 2015: Photography is a way of preserving a moment in time. This moment is gone after we press that shutter button. I went by this location last week, and wanted to see the condition of this shack. To my amazement, it is now gone with little trace. Another link to the Nova Scotia fishing heritage is gone forever.
A new dawn is born for our USA friends.
They deserve this day, and here in Italy we wish one day we can also live a day like today.
Congratulations from Italy.

IBSE specials, on the Kujawa network. The WLS 150 on the left has worked from Dobre, (in effect Dobre Sugar Works stock), and the party has changed to the PKP train on the right, to Brześć Kujawski. This mimicked the work of the junction in passenger days - although it was a triangle. Behind the camera was the line to Boniewo, and points south and west.
It is said, walking in the forest is one of the best things to clear thoughts and to reduce stress. For me exploring nature is one of my favourite things to do. Yet, the busy life takes a grip on me and the walk in the park, woodland or forest gets postpone by other things. Even so, I hope to visit the nature parks for the autumnal golden display very soon.
We're having a rainy weekend, so to brighten your day here's a sunny and colourful photo from one of the best places on Earth ... London!

His name is Kevin and he lives on the streets of Venice Beach. At the time of this photo he was 64 years old.
I could see that he was pleased that I'd asked to photograph him because passersby began noticing him. For a moment he was the center of attention. I saw his demeanor change. When I saw this image a line I'd once read came to mind: "He rose to the occasion of being looked at."
Thanks to turning back the clocks one hour, I get to see the sunrise again on my way to work. It's a nice change of pace but it gets dark earlier in the evening.
Don't worry nothing is changing here. The title points to the fact that when I took these photos I really wasn't happy with outcome and all it was is that they are slightly out of focus.
The actual images are fine they really capture how I looked and felt. now a week or so later I can see what I couldn't back then. Things change

World leaders will soon gather in Copenhagen in the hopes of coming up with a binding agreement aimed at limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius. But what if we're not successful?
Kirsty Lewis of the Met Office Hadley Centre, a leading climate research group, introduces a new Flash map which shows what might happen should temperatures rise by 4 degrees Celsius.
The impacts of climate change will be widespread across the globe. Emissions of greenhouse gases have already altered the earth's atmosphere and the climate is already changing. We will live with the consequences of these changes for the next few decades, regardless of the actions we take now to reduce our emissions. However, beyond that time, future climate change depends on whether we continue to emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at the rate we currently do, or whether we take effective steps to dramatically reduce our emissions.
The difference between these two courses of action is the difference between some inevitable climate change, and more severe, "high-end" climate change in the longer term. This is a decision that faces politicians at the global climate change negotiations at Copenhagen in December.
In order to understand more about what the human impact of high-end climate change might be, and therefore what would happen if a successful agreement can not be reached at Copenhagen, the United Kingdom's Met Office Hadley Centre has produced a map outlining some of the impacts that may occur if the global average temperature rises by 4 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit) above the pre-industrial climate average.
The Latest Research
The map was produced by the Met Office Hadley Centre, but contains contributions from climate scientists from other institutions conducting the latest research on climate impacts.
Although the average temperature rise over the globe is 4 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit) the projection on the map shows that this average rise will not be spread uniformly across the globe. The land will heat up more quickly than the sea, and high latitudes, particularly the Arctic, will have larger temperature increases. The average land temperature will be 5.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
The impacts on human activity shown on the map are only a selection of those that may occur, and highlight the severe effects on water availability, agricultural productivity, extreme temperatures and drought, the risk of forest fire and sea level rise.
Frightening Impacts
Agricultural yields are expected to decrease for all major cereal crops in all major regions of production. The availability of water will be affected by melting of glaciers, particularly in areas such as the Indus basin and western China, where much of the river flow comes from melt water. Population increases, combined with changes in river run off as a result of changes in rainfall patterns and increased temperatures, could mean that by 2080 significantly less water is available to approximately 1 billion people already living under water stress. For many areas of the world sea level rise, combined with the effect of storms, will threaten low lying coastal communities. There are often very dense populations living along coasts, as well as important infrastructure and high value agricultural land, which makes the impact of coastal flooding particularly severe. The intrusion of salt water on farming land, and the risk to lives of flooding events could affect millions of people worldwide every year.
The impacts are frightening, and the list is not exhaustive. However, the map represents a world where climate change has gone unmitigated, where we have continued to emit greenhouse gases at the rates we are today. If we continue to do this, then the likelihood of the planet warming by 4 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit) increases, and as it does so the risk of these impacts being realised also increases. By taking strong and effective action to curb greenhouse gases emissions, it may be possible to limit this temperature rise to 2 debrees Celsius (4 degrees Fahrenheit). Although this would still bring some adverse impacts, the risk of the very severest impacts, as shown in the Met Office Hadley Centre map, is significantly reduced.

I'm making some BIG changes in my life. More about that at a later date --- it's time, way past time. The round peg can't be forced into the square hole. :-)
At a pedestrian crossing at 7:30 am a Brit driving a 1920s Bentley was waiting at the lights. I asked the driver if there was a rally and there was! Loads of classics were leaving from the palace on their way to Paris. I only had trime to draw the rare sight of a Maserati having a wheel change as the other cars were lining up to set off on the next leg of the tour.
Danbo is also fond of my iPod. It's a really old version, but I love love love it. I always carry it with me.
