Another plow in the siding at River Glade. I have no idea why all this junk was moved to this siding but it was around the time the carshop in Moncton was closed. There were a few freight cars and cabooses too, most were in terrible shape.
HO Scale model of the Toronto Railway Museum's Toronto Hamilton and Buffalo Railway caboose. Built from a Walthers Wood Caboose using a variety of custom parts and Aberdeen Carshops Decals.
I'm back up by the depot again, for a badly backlit but still worthy eastbound welded rail train. The rail plant at Tama was still in operation at this point, and that's where this one came from. From left to right, we see a company boxcar on the house track, not much for cars in the south yard, the rail train on the westbound track, and the open-air carshop with a geep parked on the other side.

As you can see the track to the car shops is pretty overgrown. In fact it's the most overgrown part of the yard. It also looks like there is a tree growing in the track to.
This is a 1927 Alco 4-6-4 steam engine. It's in the carshop building at the B&O Railroad museum, where its HUGE size and bright yellow color seemed to make an impression on everyone who walked in the door.
Its location didn't allow for pictures of the whole engine, but see here for what it looks like:
July 1 2021 was not the best day for weather, as there were some heavy rains in both the morning and afternoon. Each time it rained, we were allowed to take refuge in one of the restoration shop buildings. I was part of a group of around 25 people who came for the "Fire Up 611 Experience". Thankfully there were breaks in the rain where we could explore around the engine without getting soaked.
Here, several members of Strasburg's restoration crew work on one of their passenger cars. The workspace that they have is pretty impressive, as it seemed to have anything and everything you'd need to perform restoration work....no matter how big or small.
Durango Carshop, 1957, looking south. Door to right opened into a small shed and all the car stencils were stored there. The end doors were either missing or left open, and the tumbleweeds blew through.
I took my wife's car to have an inspection and the oil changed. While waiting, I snapped a photo of the checkered floor in the shop's waiting room.

The Coudersport & Port Allegany RR dieselized with two new GE 44 tonners. After Salzberg bought the C&PA in 1964, the two little units were repainted into the Salzberg orange-cream colors. Here is the D-2 in the WAG carshops at Galeton on 7/24/75 almost 5 years after the C&PA had been abandoned.(misc894a)
