Hanging out with my daughter on the beach in Carlsbad California so I decided to try my hand at photographing the surfers. I took a LOT of photographs but these were the few that I thought captured movement in still image.

it was very difficult to get a good shot inside the carlsbad caverns. it was just really, really dark. the stone formations were remarkable, though.
i can't believe the first people to explore them did it with candles, not knowing anything about what they would find, and not being able to see more than a foot in front of them.
the caverns themselves stretch for miles and miles underground, and they say that they have recently discovered an ajacent series of caves that stretches many times farther.
at the mouth of the cave they have built an amphitheatre where you can sit and watch all the bats flood out at sundown.
