While the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most popular photo spots in all of Northern California... one of the most interesting things about it is the number of places, ways and locations it can be photographed from and all that happens behind the bridge.
One of the last times I shot there, I was on Slacker Hill... at one point I noticed how cars would be driving up and down Conzelman Rd... trying to find an ideal viewing spot for the sunrise that was moments from happening. Just trying to capture a bit of that early morning excitement and movement with this capture of two cars head/tail lights passing each other on the way up and the way down.
A photo of my car in the fog. It's been really foggy recently, so I decided to make a photo in a darker mood.

Last Friedensbrücke picture of this series. I wanted to catch carlights. Unfortunately there are so few cars at night when you need them... I also got pictures with additional backlights from the cars, but they have been taken from a different position and don't look this nice.
Another visit to our favourite trees at Cookworthy Knapp a couple of weeks ago found me attempting to fulfil a request from my friend Katie who'd suggested I try this. She's not a photographer so her imagination is all the more wonderful for it.
These trees are iconic for the residents of Cornwall, who are forever taking snaps from their homeward bound cars as they speed back to the most south westerly point of mainland Britain. The trees were still just about visible in the gathering gloom, and balancing my wish to be able to pick them out as well as there being enough red tail light action from the westbound traffic was a challenge. The shot was taken from the bridge over the A30 near Broadwoodwidger - half a mile or so east of the trees.
I quite enjoy doing these shots now and again - this was the first for a while. Then again it was the first photography of any kind for a while. Winter is coming with a million opportunities along our windswept coastline.

The famous Bixby Bridge in Big Sur plays host to this stretch of Hwy. 1 on the Central Coast of California. If you've never been, it's worth your while to take a nice, long, leisurely drive from San Francisco down to Santa Barbara. You'll see some of the prettiest and dramatic coastline with small, rural towns along the way. Go in the winter and spring months when everything is green, wildflowers are blooming and you are less likely to encounter fog.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look!
I opted to watch the fireworks without a camera in front of my face, because large fireworks displays are in my top 10 favorite things and I wanted to, you know, experience them fully, but while we waited for the crowd to thin after the show was over, I grabbed a few shots of the cars' lights. I was fairly tipsy after a wonderful day that included vodka lemonades, so my vision was nearly as bleary as this photo. ;)
The road connecting Morro Bay to Los Osos, showing a back corner of Morro Bay at a summer very high tide and Cabrillo Peak or Cerro Cabrillo in background,

Before and at dawn, a car would occasionally buzz by. It amazed me that there were others like me who would get up so early to see the wonders of nature. This spectacular spot in Appalachia also happens to be the most travelled national park destination in the country.
After a few cars passed by, I realized that not only did I like dawn's light but I also liked the light trails from the rare car that passed by. A lot.
Light trails of cars passing across the bridge over the river Dronne in Brantome, Perigord, France. I liked the composition of this shot but found it impossible to do anything about the very bright doorway on the left of the bridge. Whatever I tried just looked wrong. In the end, I worked on another shot of the same view and cropped the doorway out, but I still prefer this composition.

It may have been the coldest day of the year so far, although with the very mild winter we've had, the temperature felt colder than what the thermostat read.
I braved the cold one last time as the sun was setting and a glow came over the neighbourhood. I hadn't picked up the camera yet and the sun fading lured me to find something outside instead of trying to come up with an indoor shot.
I like the way this turned out, so I'm glad I bundled up and ran across the street and through a field to get this.
Hope everyone has had a good Thursday!

"Driving down those city streets,
Waiting to get down,
Won't you get your big machine,
Somewhere in this town?
Pull up to my bumper baby,
In your long black limosine,
Pull up to my bumper baby,
And drive it in between."
