Senior Camp 2013

An early August morning in Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park.

Camping Family Skipper enjoyed this tent I got at a yard sale. It was used as a store display for full size tents in it's first life. Skipper was a Goodwill find. See more on my blog at planetofthedolls.blogspot.com/2017/05/doll-day-2017-135ca...

Taken on a recent camping trip to Anza Borrego State Park.

We've had this tent for a few years now, but havn't used it too much. We have decided to remedy that situation, and we intend to get out camping more in the future.

Next month, Moab!!!

The war memorial Inverary.

The war memorial in Inverary is very spectaular and has the amazing ability to draw you in as you pass.

I fell in LOVE with the original picture the moment I first saw it. But I just had to wonder what would happen if Joe was any closer..

If you want this picture without the weird coloring just ask :D

Credit me if you take.

Session 1: Monday

Gorgeous southern Oregon camping views from Hyatt Lake, within the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, June 21, 2020. BLM photo: Kyle Sullivan

Situated at just a smidgen over 5,000 feet elevation, the Hyatt Lake Recreation Area is the only developed campground within the southwest Oregon national monument.

The more than 50 campsites dot the southern end of the Hyatt Lake, nestled among the evergreen firs and pines, with views across the water of Mount McLoughlin to the north.

There are also more primitive campsites, popular with kayakers and anglers because of easy boat parking, and a horse campground, too.

Campers have easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail and are only minutes away from various other trailheads into the monument or nearby Soda Mountain Wilderness.

The U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, Klamath Lake, U.S. Forest Service - Fremont-Winema National Forest and Crater Lake National Park are all additional nearby destinations.

Camp Chesterfield in Chesterfield is new on Indiana Landmarks' 10 Most Endangered list in 2015. Learn more at www.indianalandmarks.org.

Camp Chesterfield, a historic Spiritualist enclave on the banks of White River just north of Anderson, is a rare survivor and an increasingly threatened place. From the mid-nineteenth through mid-twentieth centuries, Spiritualism attracted a huge following. Described as the “philosophy, science, and religion of continuous life,” Spiritualists believe that it is possible to communicate with the dead, especially with the aid of skilled mediums.

The faith grew with each armed conflict—Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II—as the bereaved sought communication with those they lost. The movement’s popularity spurred the creation of Spiritualist camps in the U.S. and abroad.

From its origins as a summer tent camp in the 1890s, Camp Chesterfield grew under the ownership of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists to a 40-acre settlement of major structures, cottages for mediums, folk-art shrines, and unusual landscape features.

A shrinking congregation and budget have left the camp’s 65 buildings underused, including the Cathedral of the Woods (1954), Western Hotel (1948), and the vacant Sunflower Hotel (1914). Many historic cottages stand vacant, since they are only available for purchase by Indiana Association of Spiritualists’ members.

This is an exciting and unforgettable tour, full of adventure to this ethnic group that still preserve their ancient traditions, located in Yasuní National Park which has the greatest biodiversity that only exist in Ecuador.

Camp Evans

Wall Township, NJ

Camp Evans is a former military base associated with Fort Monmouth, in the U.S. State of New Jersey. It is located in Wall Township, although it is often said to be located in Belmar (its postal zip code is Belmar's, although it lies outside the borough). The property overlooks the Shark River.

Camp Evans is named after Lt. Col. Paul Wesley Evans of the Signal Corps, who worked in the development of wireless transmission at the Belmar Station in the early 20th century. After World War I, Evans was reassigned to the Panama Canal Zone as the presiding Signal Officer.

The original buildings were built by the American Marconi Company under a contract to the J.G. White Engineering Corp. between 1912 and 1914 as part of Guglielmo Marconi's "Wireless Girdle" around the Earth. It was then known as the Belmar Station.

The Belmar Station served as Marconi's receiving station, "Duplexed" with his New Brunswick high power transmitting station. An operator in Wall keyed the New Brunswick transmitter, 32 miles to the northwest, through a landline connection. Edwin Armstrong and David Sarnoff tested and perfected the regenerative circuit at the Wall site, on the night of January 31/February 1, 1914.

Climb to the Summit of Roger's Rock, Lake George, NY

The kids had a great weekend at Pilgrim Hills in Brinkhaven, Ohio, camping and making new friends.

Getting in position, I see this old camp ground looking place on the south side of the tracks. I think I remember dad telling me this was some kind of summer camp for kids way back whem. I later found out this was Camp Epworth, a Methodist Church kids canmp back in the day. The location is just north off Rt 20 on Epworth Rd, between Garden Prairie and Belvidere, IL.
