Kiska posing with her Go Frrr Ball in front of Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Lucky little solid black male pup with offset white blaze on his face, listed as a "Lab mix" when other pups with his coloration and similar body conformation are listed as "pit bull terrier mix". This cute guy will be available for adoption as a "lab mix", when he would be killed after 3 days if labeled as a "pit bull mix".

Using breed ID like this makes BSL or breed specific legislation useless, as how one defines a specific breed or mix is based on how one interprets that single dog.

It was no mean feat taking a picture of four dogs in costumes, especially when one is a very busy puppy. After costume malfunctions and many trips back re-pose we got a few shots. I included some "out-takes" for this series as well to give you a look behind the scenes with three very patient and well behaved adults and one very busy Bull Terrier puppy :-) Enjoy

Nice compact solid black male American Pit Bull Terrier with white chest and toes. Some might think this short, small dog is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier but Staffies are fairly rare as far as AKC ranked dogs and almost all Texas Staffies come from show breeders, who *usually* have spay/neuter contracts and enforce them from the few stray Staff Bulls that I've come across in almost 15 years of rescue. Staffordshire Bull Terriers have a short pump type tail, just like the Bull Terrier and many AKC American Staffordshire Terriers and a wide almost frog like stance at the chest. All I can say about IDing a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is that you'll know when you see one and that it's extrememly rare to see one in a shelter or as a mix. *However* I'm contacting the TX SBT breeders just in case this is a Staff Bull. Though the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier are similar breeds, almost cousins, they aren't interchangeable. Good looking young male pit bull, regardless, hope his owners come for him and keep him out of trouble including having him neutered.

Owners have three days to reclaim this dog or it will be euthanized due to breed, as this facility doesn't adopt out pit bull terriers or pit bull mixes.

I've always liked these two shots but didn't think they were "flickr worthy". I started messing around on photoscape and decided to combine them. Whaddya know, combined they're flickr worthy xD.

Rome had a great time at the pittie fest this weekend. He was the center of attention. I got three pit bull shirts, 2 drawstring backpacks & a bunch of stuff for the dogs. I think I spent about $50 for everything which was a pretty good deal. As soon as I got home I went online and found about 3-5 more events for next month 8D!

Unfortunately the event was very small. They had a lot of good stuff for sale but the event it'self wasn't worth taking pictures of. So I left the camera in the car & enjoyed myself.

Vote for Mr Rome please;

Winston is Brooke's dog and has been since she was 11 years old. She's 23 now and lives away from home, while he stays with us and the rest of the pack. He misses her horribly and any time she comes for a visit he's so excicted he doesn't stop panting and following her around. If she leaves the room and closes a door he whines until they are re-united again. It's almost heart-breaking to see how happy he is when she comes, and then of course, how sad he is when she leaves. He wanders around (he's almost completely blind) looking for her and whining for the first hour or so after she goes. It's like he keeps hoping she'll come out from behind a closed door somewhere. Anyway, I just had to get a picture of him smiling like this when she came over the other day. It's just so cute to see how happy he gets. Brooke is unimpressed not because she isn't happy to see Winston, but because she hates the camera and having her picture taken.

How can you not fall in love with that face? She makes a fun sock dog.

Dark red brown fawn male American Pit Bull Terrier with black mask in good physical condition, could almost pass for a Boxer mix due to his coat color and floppy ears and muzzle, which would buy him a chance at being adopted. He has three days to be claimed by his owner or a valid 501c3 rescue group or he will be euthanized due to breed, as this city shelter doesn't adopt pit bulls/mixes to the public. Complain to countypets.com about their pit bull killing policy.

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a medium-sized, solidly built, short haired dog whose early ancestors came from England and Ireland. It is a member of the Molosser breed group. The American Staffordshire Terrier and The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) by breed are from the same lineage; Staffordshire’s was the name given by AKC, and American Pit Bull Terriers by UKC. The real difference between the two breeds is 6–8" in height and 25–35 lb in weight; the American Staffordshire Terrier being the larger of the two.

The dog was bred first to bait bulls and bears. When bear-baiting and bull-baiting were deemed inhumane, rat-baiting and dog fighting became more popular. The APBT Breed was used in both sports, and its prevalence in being put in pits with rats, or other dogs led to "pit" being added to its name.

Child, dog and woman in an orchard. Turn of 20th century? The dog is a pit bull-type/bully breed; pit bulls were once referred to as nanny-dogs because they were so good with children and were one of the most popular family dogs.

Red male pit bull with black mask, a bit underweight. Upright or pricked ears are somewhat common on purebred American Pit Bull Terriers though upright ears are considered a fault in the breed standard. Many shelters/rescues/people misidentify pit bull terriers with upright ears as being a mix of other breeds. Big ears don't detract from this dog's ability to be a nice pet if given the chance. The American Pit Bull is medium-sized, and has a short coat and smooth well-defined muscle structure. Its eyes are round to almond shaped, and its ears are small to medium in length and can be natural or cropped. The tail is slightly thick and tapers to a point. The coat is glossy, smooth, short, and stiff to the touch. The accepted coat color can vary widely, but, both the AKC and UKC do not recognize merle coloring.

Twelve countries in Europe, as well as Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Malaysia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and Venezuela have enacted some form of breed-specific legislation on pit bull-type dogs, including American Pit Bull Terriers, ranging from outright bans to restrictions and conditions on ownership. The state of New South Wales in Australia places restrictions on the breed, including mandatory sterilization. A few counties, and cities in the United States as well as the Province of Ontario in Canada, have outright banned ownership of the American Pit Bull terrier, and the breed is banned in the UK. ~ Wikipedia®

Eddie you area a dork, and I love you :)

Sad but common case of an American Pit Bull Terrier with what appears to be demodex or demodectic mange, or red mange, which is the non-contagious kind that breaks out when a dog's immune system is down. This mange is an inherited condition and is very common in pit bulls due to breeding for popularity and money and not doing research into the dogs' hereditary diseases. This poor black and white pit bull has been suffering for months and will be immediately put down if a valid 501c3 chairty rescue doesn't step in and pull her.

The Owner has three working days to claim the dog or it will be euthanized due to breed as this city facility does not adopt out to the public. Stop the pit bull overpopulation!
