For 365: The 2015 Edition -- 180/365

I think there are times that we'd all like to wrap our loved ones in bubble wrap, and this week would qualify for me. When Bunny was young, the fireworks didn't phase her, but the older she gets, the more they bother her. We've already had two days with unexpected sonic booms literally shaking the house, so Bunny has spent a fair amount of time wearing her Thundershirt. Last year, we had an unfortunate incident when we'd left our house about a week after the July Fourth holiday when someone set fireworks off right beside us that went off over her head. It took me about a month to convince her to go for walks with us again. I don't mind the little bottle rockets people want to set off over the weekend, but when it sounds like we're in the middle of a war zone, a week before the holiday hits, I get a little irritated. Our evening walks are on hiatus for the next couple of weeks, because it's just not worth the risk. Anyway, if I could wrap Miss Bunny up in bubble wrap and make sure she knows that everything will be okay for the next few weeks, I would definitely do it.

You can read more about Bunny at TalesAndTails.com.

Elk had a weekend of wild 'tenting' in the Brecon Beacons. They both seem to like this activity .. I think it creates the impression that they have a den where they can take cover out of the rain and feel safe.. and what a wonderful master to actually create one! .. in dog world that can't come much better. It is funny when putting the tent up .. they sort of know the routine and sit patiently until I've got the bubblewrap laid out (to protect the groundsheet) and then as i turn one way to get my sac in they barge in on the other side, turn round in a couple of circles and plonk themselves down and have a snoozy time! Anyway good time had all round.

I never throw away bubble wrap. I have two boxes (big ones!) full of it in my attic. Whenever I get a package in the mail, and it has bubble wrap in it, I get excited. “Free bubble wrap!” The stuff is expensive if you have to buy it. I have things to sell on eBay. I’ll use it someday… I know I will!

Zorie loves to pop the bubble wrap very much, so I bought a bubble wrap iPhone case for her.

She is very happy with her new gift and keeps popping it with a sweet smile :D

My Myon's (Switch Vian) body has arrived before her head! I hadn't expected Granado to ship out the bodies so quickly, definitely less than the stated 50 working days. Lovely service, guys.

Presenting--the new Granado Nuevo female body!

As can be seen from the third photo in the sequence, the box was a little scratched in the corner when it arrived, but its contents were otherwise unharmed. In fact, the whole package was thoroughly swathed in bubblewrap the outside, so unless someone stomped upon it intentionally, nothing should happen to the goods. On opening the box, you'll notice that it's entirely filled with foam, with pieces that you gouge out to reveal the body. Granado's Crocus Lee has even handwritten a message on the envelope containing the body's certification to each lucky new Nuevo owner, I presume. Love the little personal touch.

The first thing I noticed upon unpacking the body was its weight. It's definitely waaaay lighter that Gwyne's Lati Red M body. I'm not certain if this is good, but IMO, it's a nice weight. Next is the smooth matte-ness of the resin. It's somewhat smoother than Volks new resin, IIRC, but has the similar nice, dry feel. (=A= Steffi, I'm pretty sure most new dolls feel this way.) It took me some time to figure out how to get the body to stand with the legs apart (see largest photo). It seems like the body's bottom half's poseability largely lies in the lower thigh joints (not the part joint to the crotch, but at the seams slightly lower). I'm still trying to figure it out, but am otherwise loving what it can do.

The new Nuevo hands--blushed and with nails glossed by me today--are lovely. They're elegant, though a little on the easily-caught-in-your-sleeve side worrying. Guess I've gotta be careful with how I grab the hands; I'll definitely try to grasp the upper arms when I need to pose them.

Now, on Granado's webshop page, it's stated that a pair of heeled feet would be included. You need to be careful with how you open the doll box and remove the body and foam stuffing, 'cause the heeled feet were buried at the bottom corner in mine, with no packaging in sight.

Currently, Sana is occupying the body (Kris is miffed), so I'll be playing with it until Myon's head returns from her face-up artist.

If you've purchased a Nuevo body too, do share your opinion of it with me!

The Nuevo NS body is meant for Myon, a Switch NS Vian girl.

Well... its bubblewrap protecting a saucer :-)

Whenever I put my two cats in the mail, I always make sure to use lots of bubblewrap ;-)

That was fast. Less than 2 hours after setting the trap, the raccoon was caught. He devoured the cat food, and pulled as much bubble-wrap (which was laying around the attic) into his cage as possible -- I assume for insulation (they also utilize fiberglass insulation). A couple months later, we caught another...

This is the 2nd room of our 1st attic. Floorboards started with replacement mattress slats for a shitty Ikea bed that fell apart, and ended with leftover boards from our addition. Several of the numbered cardboard boxes had to be decomissioned due to raccoon damage, the contents re-assimilated or re-catalogged to a new box. I just hosed off new plastic bins to go up there.

Playing with dark and surreal. As it happens, this is just what is on my lounge right now. Sort of long story - my aunt is moving in to a nursing home and I promised to help sell some stuff on eBay. So, I went onto eBay to see what sort of prices various things sold for, and it turns out that there are lots of nice things to buy there, and so rather than listing anything, I bought stuff. Lots of stuff. Ooops. Anyway, the dummy is for displaying the rhinestone necklace and the bubblewrap came from the stuff.

I made this using the Textured Felt technique, though didn't use quite so much texture between the layers. I made two pieces-a back/flap piece, and a front piece, then placed a bubblewrap resist between the two layers-leaving aproximately, a 2cm gap at the sides and bottom for seams to form. This could be done by laying out one long piece then folding over to make the front-using a resist, or just one long piece, then sewn together after felting.

This bag now has a strap:

It did involve cutting the side tassles off, though :(

Day 14 in Jules's gagrage and he's havin problems with his bubble wrap!!

Specs:

Step 1 | Tape some bublewrap over the lens and set focal length to 16mm start the white physiogram going, start the vaccines on the ipod and open the shutter let the string swing for the first 2 tracks (track ones only just over a minute!)

Step 2 | Hold lens cap over bubble wrap and turn light off on physiogram string. Remove bubble wrap, lens cap back on and gel the physiogram string orange. Change focal length to 11mm and start physiogram running and remove the lenscap. Let it swing for about another track and then cap it again.

Step 3 | Replace orange gel with a purple one, shorten the string and slightly move the camera angle. Set the string running and remove the lens cap again. Let this run for about 3/4 track then lens cap again.

Step 4 | Switch physiogram light off and move camera to look directly up. Remove lens cap and waft some blue EL wire over the lens until the track finishes. Close shutter and retreat inside for a bit of warm!!

definition: just air wrapped in plastic - polyethylene resin to be exact.

The postman has just brought this package, it's a book The Sisters: Alsace-Lorraine by Bernard Newman. It describes a cycle tour he made there in 1949.

I cast some packing material first in plaster, then wax, then sterling- whatcha think?

Ten of us met up in London for International Fuggers Day. It was such fun, basically a pub crawl with much photo taking. Here some of us are squeezed together, outdoors, smiling and with the lovely red of our British phonebox, for the day's challenge.

Brilliant Fugger meet up.

...you can't stop.

So I was very good, restrained myself and didn't even start.

(I bubble-wrapped my outside taps this evening to help protect them from the bitter cold we're having at the moment.)

Charles: Hi lady.

Me: Hi Cha.. Charles?? Where did you get that outfit?

Charles: Found it.

Me: Where??

Charles: In a box filled with bubblewrap and some other stuff.

Me: By "some other stuff" you wouldn't happen to mean the new girl, right?

Charles: Could be, didn't pay attention, just grabbed outfit and left.

Me: *grmbl*

Many greyhound, galgo and iggy owners know the feeling after finding they managed to cut them selves open , again!

Their skin is so thin and they have so little hair, it sometimes looks they could cut themselves on a gust of wind.

And sometimes you wish you could wrap them in bubble wrap.

It was something I wanted to do for a long time, but since I am cheap, I didn't want to buy the bubble wrap. But yesterday I got a whole lot of it, wrapped around my new camera.

Cara was, as usual my patient model. I really should up her allowance.

Few things in life are perfectly smooth and without a few crinkles.

The watch was now resting on a sheet of bubblewrap, on top of a piece of reflective card, on top of three small boxes containing 52mm filters. The Nikon SC-17 flash cord (for fill in light) that was attached between the Holga and my Nikon SB-24 flash (itself balanced on some cardboard packaging) slipped from my fingers as I went to trigger the shutter and sent the whole thing tumbling to the carpet. So this was a pleasant surpise.

Interesting how the bubblewrap looks like running water.
