Ouddorp - Na een paar keer per ongeluk op zijn staart te hebben gestaan kreeg ik eindelijk de kans om hem vast te leggen in niet echt ideale omstandigheden. Uit de barre winter van 2010-2011.

Another picture of the American Bittern that I saw at Brazos Bend last weekend. This bird is not a fan of clean backgrounds:) The first of season Brazos Bend bittern puts me in the mood for fall and winter birding and photography.
Some of the kings of the bird fishing world, Bittern, Kingfisher and Little Egret.
It's been marvelous having such wonderful views of these birds.
A couple of shots of a patient American Bittern taken with different cameras and lenses (Something I like to do given the chance) :0)
Best viewed large to see detail :0)
Was hiking the walkway and thought I saw something cool. Walked back a bit and saw this Least Bittern fishing in the marsh water. Glad I got pretty much all the body. I rarely do. At the time there was also a Dragonfly on a leaf and I thought that was a little bonus for me. Such a pretty bird.

Watched this American Bittern for a couple hours the other day stalking through the marsh, they are stealthy hunters and prefer hunting on the move more so then the Blue or Green Herons that find standing still in one place the method of choice.
