Scenes around Skamania Lodge, Stevenson, Washington, USA. I was here for the CIDM Best Practices 2014 conference. I got in a really nice run around the trails that surround the golf course, up until I twisted my ankle and spent the last day of the conference hobbling around (and missed the subsequent few weeks of half marathon training).

More than 130 Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) employees from across the depot successfully completed and exceeded established goals during the 2017 JMC Outload Assessment Exercise April 3-6, 2017.

The assessment was held to validate “surge” outload capabilities that would replicate a real world surge outload capability operation using specific vessel requirements.

Throughout the exercise, an on-site evaluation team from Joint Munitions Command provided guidance and assistance while documenting outload process steps and evaluating lessons learned and potential best practices.

hodgkinsons and the yudnamutana gorge - a great spot for a uranium mine, haulage road, slurry pipeline, or processing facility, do you think?

the south australian government, believe it or not, thinks 'possibly so' and calls this 'balance'!

the scars you can see criss-crossing this hillside are evidence of some of the mineral exploration history of the area - some very recent - some decades old; all, apparently, 'rehabilitated' to meet the standards of the state department of minerals and energy

At the 2015 AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas, we asked attendees, who were mostly developers and engineers, “How would you make your IT department faster?”

For their responses, check out this video:

Globe Works, Penistone Road, Sheffield, 1825.

For Ibbotson & Roebank, edge tool manufacturers.

Grade ll* listed.

Large purpose-built cutlery and edge tool works are very distinctive to the industrial identity of Sheffield, which during the C19 became known throughout the world as a centre of excellence in the manufacturing and processing of steel. Against the loss of many such buildings in the late C20 due to the severe decline of the industry, Globe Works is a highly significant survivor at the vanguard of such integrated urban works. It demonstrates the layout and building types of such a complex, including rare examples of specific workshop types as well as the more generic cutlers' workshop.

Approximately eight sites in Sheffield survive retaining evidence of individual hand forges or grinding hulls (rooms), or both. Globe Works has four hand forges, and the only known remaining example of urban back-to-back grinding hulls.

Possibly the world's first purpose-built cutlery factory, c1818. Ad hoc workshop buildings and a courtyard stand behind a Classical facade. Partial damage was caused by industrial unrest in the 1840s. It became a general factory/warehouse until an arson attack in the 1970s when it was left derelict.

The aim was to retain as much original fabric as possible after fire damage and dereliction. The stone facades were repaired, timber windows restored and rebuilt off site. Top floor of workshops restored to original design. It was the first significant project in the Kelham Island Conservation area. A high quality conservation project.
