mineral exploration site 'hodgkinsons' in the yudnamutana gorge - a great spot for a uranium mine, do you think?
the south australian government, believe it or not, thinks 'possibly so' and calls this 'seeking a balance'!
the scars you can see criss-crossing this hillside are evidence of some of the mining history of the area - some very recent - some decades old; all, apparently, 'rehabilitated' to meet the standards of the state department of minerals and energy
note the extensive erosion still taking place at this site
the magnificent gorge country that can be seen in the background is, on the left hand side, standard mining 'access zone 3' under the state government's plan - will what you can see in the foreground be its future?

Scenes around Skamania Lodge, Stevenson, Washington, USA. I was here for the CIDM Best Practices 2014 conference. I got in a really nice run around the trails that surround the golf course, up until I twisted my ankle and spent the last day of the conference hobbling around (and missed the subsequent few weeks of half marathon training).
The Franklin's Tower cooperative reflects on the practices with which a family-sized, well-organized community of Stanford students was built. What were the ingredients of resounding success? Where was there room for improvement?

NEED: Better U+1 consciousness. Dealing with dirty dishes. Clean while you cook. Making altruism visible.
Microcreativity/innovation in the space: e.g. Yo momma's kitchen vs. our kitchen.
NEED: Make cleaning a social dance party. Rally all the guests for kitchen cleaning after family dinner. Cleaning should be a fun communal activity.
NEED: Re-frame cleaning as a meaningful activity, not a chore. Serve dessert after kitchen clean as reward.
Facilitate people to express their gifts and share them, e.g. Evan baking, John cleaning rags.
Finding your niche and loving it. Cleaning, cooking, compost, recycling, etc.
More than 130 Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) employees from across the depot successfully completed and exceeded established goals during the 2017 JMC Outload Assessment Exercise April 3-6, 2017.
The assessment was held to validate “surge” outload capabilities that would replicate a real world surge outload capability operation using specific vessel requirements.
Throughout the exercise, an on-site evaluation team from Joint Munitions Command provided guidance and assistance while documenting outload process steps and evaluating lessons learned and potential best practices.
