A few years ago I made a video of Ann's 18th birthday party. Ann and her parents went throught some really though times during the last years. To celebrate that everything is going well again they threw another party. Ann and her friens might be handicapped but boy do they know how to party.

I photographed this party to thank those great kids and their supporting families for one of the best parties I've ever been to.

No well paid commercial job or drop dead gorgeous model shoot can compeed with this. This is what really counts.

This is the gate to a more spacious future. We've been looking for a long time for a bigger house with a studio space. Well, we finally found it. The studio should be up and running by early next year and I'm really looking forward to the endless possibilities that it will open to me. I'll keep you posted.

My son Kobe and his friend Louise told me they were going to get married. So we did a small engagement shoot. Don't take these pictures to serieus. Five minutes in the studio with one light and 2 minutes in Lightroom was all I had before they wanted to play in the garden.

Like almost every year for the past 10 years or so, my parents and our little family went for a ski holiday in Austria.

When I recentely borrowed an Ixus in Valencia because my gear was stolen, I realised I had to get a good compact camera myself, so I bought a Canon Ixus. It's far from as powerful as my DSLR's but because it fits in my pocket I can take it with me all the time. Great for some memories I wouldn't have captured otherwise.

Tonight I was one of the few fortunate people who got to play with a beta version of the new Canon EOS 5D mkII

I only held it for like two minutes but that was enough to be really impressed. It feels and handles well and it's amazing how little noise you get with such a megapixel packed sensor at high resolution.

I shot some HD video's at high iso's and they look just amazing. Too bad I'm not allowed to share them yet.

Because this is a beta camera there's no software that can handle the RAW-files, that's why I shot this picture in jpeg. This pictures was shot at iso 6400.

This one is slightly processed in Lightroom.

I'm very impressed with this camera, thanks Canon.

The incredibly fun wedding of Sara en Kristof

I used to shoot quite a lot of weddings but these days I limit myself to 10 weddings a year. I would be better off shooting a corporate or commercial assignment on those days but I just love shooting fun weddings too much to stop doing it.

I doesn't happen very often but sometimes it feels like you know someone pretty well without ever meeting each other. Veerle is Belgian but lives with her husband and their adorable daughter in California. I've been reading her blog about their American adventures for ages and Veerle was one of the first readers of my blog.

On their recent visit to our country I finally had the pleasure to meet Veerle, Sven and Nina for a photo session and a nice chat. I really hope I can visit them in the US one day.

TECHNICAL INFO

When shooting babies, it's often best to keep the lighting simple. We used a single Vivitar 285HV in a lastolite softbox to camera left and another Vivitar with a translucent umbrella to camera right.

Steenokkerzeel, BELGIUM (studio)

Now that I have a nice big studio, I might as well learn how to take pictures in it. I find it much more difficult than shooting on location. That's why I'm doing a series of test shoots to try stuff out. The fantastic Kailyka helped me out on this one.

LIGHTING INFO:

I know I move my lights around a lot in function of the mood, the story and the model's features. That's why I figured to keep it rather simple in the studio. This one is made with one Elinchrom Ranger head and an Elinchrom Softlighter brolly to camera right, slightly behind the model.

I strongly (convince myself to) believe that professional photographers should take some time to play every now and then. We played around all the time when we where amateurs and that's what made us good enough to go pro anyway. So to become a better pro, I try to allow some time to play in my tight schedule.

A few months ago I got into a conversation between some like minded photographers and we decided to do some kind of fun shoot together. I actually didn't have the time but I went anyway. And I'm glad I did, because I came back with more energy and motivation.
