Tributes to teh bestest boy who is also teh baddest, ands teh dreamy creamy splish splashy so hots waves shots that almost gots hims banned.
Possibly the biggest, baddest, most bulbous speeder bike to emerge from the drawing boards of Llwyngwril Systems. The Turbinia was based around a massive turbine.
Centuries later, all the evidence left for its existence are these four archive photos. They leave many questions unanswered:
Was the giant turbine some form of centrifugal compressor? If so, were did the all of air go? The nozzles on the rear of the bike are quite small.
As the turbine made up a considerable part of the mass of the speeder bike and was effectively a large gyroscope, how the Turbinia generate enough turning force to manoeuvre?
How did the pilot get up to the cockpit?
The mechanics of the anti-gravity systems needed for the Turbinia to hover are, of course, simple and well known.

As noted before, my favorite place in the entire world, The Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, I did not note at which point this photo was taken, but somewhere between Maricopa Point and Mohave Point. It wasn't necessarily at a named point as I stopped frequently at the majority of spots with a place to pull over, which are numerous--the majority of which are unnamed.
I started to process this in color which, at least in my opinion is the preferred way to process photos of this gorgeously colorful splendor, but after moving back and forth between the two processes, at least for this, I felt B&W was best.
I referred to this as "a photo," but it's actually a pano combining 16 photos taken with my Nikon D810 using a Nikkor 50mm lens.
A little know fact about me is that I used to be heavy-heavy in the hip hop game back in the 80’s. You could even say that I was one of the baddest in the game at that time. But alas that was ages ago. And although I’m no longer a record spinner I made some life long friends from my days as a battle DJ. And one of those friend is Dj. Rated R. Just tonight I had the pleasure of photographing him behind the scenes and live on the radio, the photos are to be used for his upcoming website. Watching him spin was both exciting and nostalgic as I recall being the one behind the ones and twos. Gosh those were the days! But hey I love my new love… the camera!
Tech tidbits: There was limited room so I couldn't use any lights and being the genius I am I left my speed lights at home so I just used my D300 on manual with the on camera flash and made it do what it do baby!
With her extravagant aesthetic, the multidisciplinary artist Sasha Frolova not only created flashy inflatable latex costumes for the Grand Show, "FALLING IN LOVE" and its curator JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER, but also created breathtaking wow moments with fantastic scenographic design elements for the stage. She creates inflatable costumes and sculptures out of latex and other materials.
In 2009 she was a finalist at the Kandisky Prize in the "Young Artist. Project of the Year" category.
In 2013 she was a finalist at the ARTE LAGUNA 12.13 Prize and won a special prize in the "Personal Exhibition" category.
A year later she received the prize as "Alternative Miss World 2014".

Rarely, if ever, do we come across bearded bad guys in the real world. Unfortunately, cinema seems to enjoy twisting the truth and loading our screens with the baddest of the bearded.
It probably stems from Plays that have always needed ways to make their characters visually distinct. After all, the audience had to recognise them from the back of the theatre, and the same actors had to recreate themselves as different characters (often in the same play). So any kind of distinctive hairstyle or clothing could be turned into a visual shorthand for who this was, and then to what kind of person they were.
