Cometan travels to the seaside town of Eastbourne, East Sussex for his 2021 summer vacation and has just taken this stunning image of the beach there. There are so many features to this image to describe but we will be begin with the pebbly beach itself. The multi-coloured pebbles provide the basis for this image leading to their domination of the bottom half. Our sea of pebbles then stretch out for as far as the eye can see until we reach the famous cliffs of the English coast in the background.

Cometan captures a glimpse of the town of Eastbourne on the right hand side as the sun sets behind it, giving us a beautiful sky display which dominates the upper half of this photograph. Finally, we come to the Moon, one of Cometan’s favourite subjects due to his founding of the religion of Astronism. The Moon in our image here works with the water to create a glistening reflection of light that travels from far out at sea all the way to the beach itself. The Moon sits proudly in the sky, overlooking this stunning yet almost eerie dusk scene.

Strange meetings in Turin

Cometan spent his Sunday afternoon on a hike through the infamous region of Pendle, a place well known for being a hotbed of witchcraft activity during the early 17th century. Even up to today, there still exists a distinct eeriness about this region of Lancashire, particularly as you ascent to Pendle Hill itself. How lucky is Cometan to live just half an hour from this historical place.

Este es el segundo ascensor que te llevaba a lo alto del Reloj Astronómico (70m.) tras otro previo. Unas vistas de Praga alucinantes que merecían muy mucho la pena, eso si no sufres de vértigo, claro (q es mi caso)

Yesterday, Cometan took some of his younger siblings Zara Taylorian, Edie Taylorian and Jay Taylorian on a walk through West Lancashire to arrive at the quaint village of Croston. The children thoroughly enjoyed walking through the fields to reach the village and were then more than happy to gobble their lunch sat under the clock tower of St Michael and All Angels Church. It was a long walk back but the weather faired up later in the afternoon and by the time we reached home in Leyland our clothes had dried. The children especially enjoyed feeding a friendly horse with juicy apples on the way back. 🍁🍂

Cometan, the Founder of Astronism and representative of all Astronists, wishes you and your loved ones a wonderful and happy Christmas. All the best for 2022!

Hai regione amica cara, sempre saggia e modesta.

Judging by the bags, this has been a shopping trip for many. Judging by the rather un-Scottish close physical proximity of the people in the queue, this day in 1984 was very cold. They face a long hike north from Edinburgh's St. Andrew's Square in this Van Hool Astron of Newton's, Dingwall.

The registration mark found its way onto an ex-Aberdeen Fleetline and an ex-City of Oxford Bristol VRT, both of Embling, Guyhirn.

Like so many other things at Club Med, this was an unexpected sight. I was walking along the beach, from our room to the fitness center (the vast quantities of delicious food make daily exercise a necessity!) when I saw a large group of colorful kayaks rowing by. I don't know if it was a contest, a parade, a regatta, or just a bunch of people enjoying themselves -- but it was colorful indeed...

There was one aspect of this picture that I was completely unaware of when I snapped the photo ... which I'll let you discover by yourself.

By the way, the shipwreck in the distance was a Russian freighter called the Astron, which ran aground in the early 1980s, while delivering 60 tons of corn to Cuba. For more information see this article on Wikipedia.

One of the regulars in Manchester on shuttle trips was Lofty's Tours, who splashed out on seven new Van Hool integrals between 1982 and 1984 - and probably wished they hadn't ! They were mainly T815 Acrons and Alicrons, but there was also one Astromega and this twin-deck Astron.

They mainly worked for Sun Holidays at Ashton-under-Lyne, and for a time they also operated a Neoplan Skyliner on behalf of Sun, who owned it, until they obtained their own licence.

This Astron had left the fleet by the end of the year, and then spent nearly a decade with Cooper's of Gilesgate Moor, Durham. It had many later owners, and number plates, finally being retired from UK service in 2008, but was then exported ! I have no idea where it went, but for something as quirky as this, with seemingly limited use after its shuttling days were over, to go on for nearly 25 years was remarkable.
