Puente de la Rábida (GStreetView)
En 1950, el Conselho Superior de Obras Públicas decidió, construir un puente mixto (rodado y ferroviario) uniendo las dos mesetas de Candal (en Gaia) y de Arrábida (en Oporto). Pero los estudios sobre los enlaces con las vías existentes concluyeron que sería mejor optar por puentes independientes de carretera y de ferrocarril, manteniéndose para el primero la localización de Arrábida.
En marzo de 1952 fue adjudicada por la Junta Autónoma de Estradas la elaboración de anteproyectos para el puente rodoviario al Profesor Edgar António de Mesquita Cardoso.
El ingeniero Edgar Cardoso desarrolló entonces un proyecto de un puente que constituye, por la belleza estética, por el atrevimiento de su concepción y por la simplicidad y seguridad de algunas operaciones de montaje y despiece de la cimbra metálica, una obra excepcional. Un precioso tablero de hormigón armado sobre un arco, también de hormigón armado, con una cuerda de 270 metros y una flecha de 54 metros, que fue durante algún tiempo el récord mundial para puentes en arco de hormigón armado. El tablero se eleva a 70 por encima del nivel medio de las aguas.
La construcción se extendió de mayo de 1957 al 22 de junio de 1963, día de su inauguración.
Arrábida Monastery, Arrábida, Portugal
This Monastery was built in the 16 th century and consists of the Old Monastery (located on the uppermost part of the hillside), the New Monastery (halfway down), the Garden and the Bom Jesus Shrine, set in the property’s 25 hectares. In addition, there are the adjacent but separate quarters of the Duke of Aveiro and the houses where the pilgrims stayed.
The Monastery was founded in 1542 by Brother Martinho da Santa Maria, a Castillan Franciscan.
Tramcar 220 just passed under Ponte d'Arrábida.
The history of the Porto Brill-type trams with 7 windows is full of enigmas caused by reconstructions, renumbering and failing documentation. STCP 220 is likely build by Brill around 1910 and reconstructed by the local workshops in 1940. The most prominent changes of the reconstruction being widening of the body and extending of the platforms.
"Portinho da Arrábida", is a beach, near the city of Setúbal, known for it´s shallow beautiful green waters and for diving. Is, along with 20 other places, running in a contest for the election of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal.

The photo was taken from the top of "Serra da Arrábida", another place that is in the contest. It has lots of flora and fauna and astonishing views to the ocean and beaches.
