Close-up ants on a flower

I picked up the Ant-Man Final Battle set this weekend, and I immediately noticed that the Yellowjacket minifigure has the same balance problem as the Ghostbuster minifigs because of that heavy plasma cannon array strapped to his back.

It probably makes him very tired. So I took pity and made a little display stand to help keep him upright.

ant won't sit still:)

I took no chances with getting close to any ants....

Broga Hill Ant (kerengga)

Black ants running across a muddy path early in the morning. It is in the harmattan/dry season and due to extreme temperatures or unfavourable weather conditions, the ants are forced to migrate, carrying all their foods, eggs and larva. The stronger ants with cutting mouth parts come together to form a thin protective canopy over the workers transporting the goods that may be valuable to bigger animals during the exodus. And that is why the trail is darker than usual.

This is something you might take for granted if you lived in this part of the world- sub-Saharan Africa/tropics. It is a common sight in unspoiled areas, areas with some or all of natural vegetation still intact. I was obliged to take photographs of this scene because it was extraordinary. Such black ants are often encountered when they run across pedestrian paths to and from the bushes (as in the photo), or on rare occasions when the cavalry makes the front of a building a convenient alternative route.

If you by any chance break the file, make sure you don't hang around their search radius or it' your funeral. The soldiers react quickly and aggressively to any interference of any sort. They are skilled at locating the vulnerable parts of the body, that is getting past your shoe or clothing down to your skin if you're a human scape goat. And the case is made even worse when you're not aware of their entrance. They are formidable; they can die biting. Memories of how you danced to their tune would live with you forever :o) Trust me! I'm talking from experience.

Ciels Breton - Ant Perspective

Made Explore #84

Well I took this photo after school while I walked to my car. There was no parking this morning so I parked like across the main highway and next to my car I came across a colony of these ants...a whole bunch of them but this particular one was so funny.

I never thought about dandelions having nectar.....

Giant Ants byTasa Tomada, The Lowry, Salford.

A swarm of giant ants invade the gallery walls in this extraordinary installation by Colombian artist Casa Tomada from the Saatchi Gallery, London. Exploring ideas of displacement and immigration these ants are assembled from two human skull casts invoking thoughts of life and death.

Cute Little Ant Mimicking Spider (Myrmarachne formicaria)

On the island, Anjelica full of ants, biting ones, my hand touched the stem & they jumped on me immediately & bit me lol ;))

Velvet Ant or most commonly referred to as a Cow Killer. Actually not even an Ant, it is a Wasp, and this is the female because it has no wings. Got it's name because the females sting is so painful it could kill a cow! OK, so I put it in a bowl with plastic wrap over the top! Not your pure nature shot, but there is only so much I will do for a good photo!

In this series of three shots there are two different ladybird species ( Yellow-shouldered, 3mm and Variable, 5mm) and two different ant species (unidentified).

I'm not sure what's happening in these shots, as most of the literature indicates that ants and ladybirds are competing for aphids - ladybirds to eat them and ants to milk honeydew from the aphids. The ants did not appear to be showing any great aggression towards the ladybirds.

Update:

Seen on our Japanese Maple tree a little while ago. Not sure if the ants are eating the aphids, or just hanging out with them.

The Carpenter Ants do eat the Aphids. They love the aphids! I don't love either of them.

larger than normal household ants.. Seen during the tree planting activity in the hillylands of Cebu (cantipla)

On one of my walks recently I noticed that the wood ants are active again. I find them fascinating and as I had my little compact with me and as it records video I thought I'd place it on the nest to film them. I could watch them for hours as they are so busy. I got a couple of nips when I retrieved the camera and, as you can hear, we were on the Gatwick flight path that day...Listen carefully and you might hear their footsteps as they cross the microphone.....

I was trying reverse lens macro and got this capture, the position of ant looks artistic and the colorful bokeh comes up in reflection. Yes.... flash is used in this capture and the dusts is visible. If you enter in the world of macro you will find so many interesting things. You can better understand and explain the capture.

Wish you a Nice Week ahead friendz.
