I was happy to have the illustrious Scott Murphy back as Commissioner Gordon, a role he hasn't played since 2013 in "Gay Batman Returns." (Less hair, but same guy) Another great BTS shot from Road Dog/Ehall, friend of ours. I hate doing sound, but I'll do it because as I say: "the only thing worse than doing sound is hiring a sound guy," because they're always really flakey and really fucking weird. I got so tired of it, I just bought my own rig. It actually works pretty good. Ive had this gear for like 8 years, beat the shit out of it, it all still works. Not bad.
That light you see is an Arri Sky Panel, it's a 3 light set of really expensive (like $5000 each) light panels my boss bought, who is a cinematographer. You get tons of great effects out of them, you can even program/control them with your iPhone. Pretty lucky as a film nerd I get to use all this shit for free, absolute top of the line gear they use to make actual movies & TV shows and shit with. (Nice of my goddamn boss to let me too, 2nd one in a row)
Nervous Marc pulled focus and rocked the single channel; Morgan (he's a fair child) was the DP, torn meniscus and all. Everybody kicked ass as usual, great fucking crew. So lucky to be surrounded by such great peeps.
This is what the shoot looked like. B cam is outside the door there, and C cam is stashed in the curtains over the comic's shoulders. Sure would have looked better with more people in the audience, uh? Fuck. Still came out looking pretty good and for all the work was still a good time. Now if I can get this goddamn footage in the can and off to edit....
This is that 3rd angle/C cam shot I was telling you about. How fucking cool is that? (It's slightly out of focus but you get the picture. Literally.) That's Robbie Banks tearing it up.
It was a long, cold night of shooting. But it was fun. (Aside from an...incident. Or two.) We got it done. That's Garret Curtis rocking the Alexa Mini, a great cinematographer. I cant wait to see how this looks. Cooke anamorphic lenses, all day every day, son.
