The Deodar Cedar has to be in my top ten favorite trees, for their delicate and graceful branches. I noticed while walking my dog that this tree now has tiny cones. See link for more information on this tree, a native of the Himalayas.

I read a little more, and it appears that these are the male cones which release pollen in the fall.

This little sweety is about to jump forward toward the bird food!

Floral Friday

The tree trunk to the left and upright greens to the right provide framing for the roses.

This little tractor was not spotted out in the country, but on a normal city lot. This is the main decoration in the front yard. Like many homes, the owner has switched the landscaping from one that uses too much water, probably a lawn, to one that uses very little water, predominantly rocks. Many years of drought in the state of California resulted in restrictions on water use that encouraged property owners to make such changes.

It may be a smaller version of Ford's vintage N series tractors.

I found it interesting that even though the photo was taken in March, there are still Halloween decorations in front of the house.

Week 28 Active Space

Shot with a Schneider Kreuznach "Xenon 75 mm F2 (fixed aperture)" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Even though the photo has a background of leaves (and the white flowers, main subject), I feel that it qualifies as Active Space. There is room for the white flowers to grow across and over the green background.

Rückenfigur meats active space. Normally the active space is on the edge of the photo, but I decided to experiment with the active space being in the middle.

Besides being adorable, these Scottish Highland Cattle also appear to be quite inquisitive. Somehow I think of Elvis when looking at that mop of unruly hair sported by each one.

An urban landscape, in Emeryville, California near the Public Market. It's been a few years since I visited the Public Market, which is a food court with a variety of international foods. In the place of what used to be a large parking lot there is now a small park and new buildings. One thing you can count on is change. I like the play structure in the shape of a whale. It has two slides plus areas for climbing. You can even go inside the whale. I am guessing the vertical lines simulate kelp or other sea life. Emeryville is just north of Oakland in the East Bay.

Four O'clocks are easy to grow and come in a variety of colors. These bright yellow flowers are basking in the early morning sun.
