The original BMW accelerator cable has a hook and eye arrangement, so I made a lollipop shape, drilled a hole and welded it to the shortened pedal.
Note: Marlin supply the cable arm of the pedal too long. This means the foot throw is very limited. I shortened mine by 25mm.

The whole setup in place. You can see here that I've popped an additional washer under the front end of the realignment/ reinforcement piece. I've since replaced this with a rectangular piece of 1mm steel and the whole thing sits pretty square with a nice smooth feel to the pedal.
I hope that the springs on the throttle body will be enough to return the pedal but I may need to add an additional one. Once the pedal positions are are set there will be a need to fit a stopper high up and one underneath to stop the pedal returning or being depressed too far
