Poundstretcher can sometimes bring us collectors who like the cheapo side of collecting some nice surprises. Since last year things went a bit pear shaped when they became greedy and started selling older batches of Hot Wheels and Matchbox for the extremely optimistic price of 2.50! And they they have stuck to the pegs with no sign of anyone in charge actually noticing and doing something about it!
My local store has a huge dump bin full of Hot Wheels copies which i've quickly realised are made by Tian Hong Toys as they are exactly the same as whats offered in cheap multi-sets at Smyths Toys. These differ as one they are sold as singles but also they have brightly coloured alloy effect plastic wheels and pullback motor.
At just 69p each expectations should be managed but in all fairness their origins are obvious to see, this being based on a HW Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Casting and paint quality are more than acceptable for its target audience which are young children who will probably play them to the death!
