OK, I know, this is an icon from Yosemite and I said I don't shoot icons. But it was perfect weather, and sunset, and we were up at tunnel view. I could not help myself!

Yosemite Tunnel
As we were driving through the long tunnel on the highway in Yosemite I caught a glimpse of this small tunnel so we had to explore. On the other side of the fence is maybe a 300 foot sheer cliff, I’ll be posting that photo later.

After shooting the reflection shot of sunset overlooking the Merced River, El Capitan and Bridalveil, we rushed up to the Tunnel View overlook to catch the waning sunset moments. I had discovered the tunnel shot the previous evening while trying to capture the traditional shot you see everyone take down into the Yosemite Valley.
Funny thing, I remember when I first started taking photos a while back, 2 tips that stuck with me, Look up, and turn around, I'm glad I did.

Cliff Edge Yosemite
The day 223 tunnel in Yosemite ended at the edge of this 200 foot cliff overlooking the start of the Yosemite valleys amazing canyons. I held onto the bars of the fence and leaned out over the edge to shoot this.

The view from Tunnel View as you enter the Yosemite Valley from Highway 41 is one of those iconic sights that is instantly recognizable by anyone who has visited Yosemite National Park, but on the other side of the Yosemite Tunnel is another place to stop and take in the valley vista that is just as spectacular, and much less busy.

When you are headed into Yosemite Valley, the tunnel is the last thing before the Yosemite Valley overlook. From the tunnel it is about five minutes to the valley floor.

Yosemite Valley under a beautiful blanket of snow, the winter snow crowned the rocks like the White hats!
There are two ways (that I know of) to drive into the Yosemite Valley the 41 or the 140. Both are very different. The 41 reminds me of the Rocky Mountains with winding roads and huge pine trees and you might even see some snow. You drive threw the “the tunnel” which is the best part!!
The 140 runs along the riverside and is very lush and green with different texture rocks hanging over the road side. The best part is the pink bushes that pop along the road side. I have no clue what they are called and if you know the name please let me know.
