Out To Pasture...

From the archives.

(Re Edit) I applied two different directions of motion blur for this image. Adamski Effect?

Several years ago me and my good friend Doug went for a nice early morning drive in the country ending up in North Caledon; stopping here and there to take photos of the scenery and local farmlands.

On the way up one of the local sideroads we saw the sun rising above this ranch on the way. we stopped got our and fired off a few shots.

Tomorrow is my birthday. This arrived today. A gift from my son. He loves his mama.

This photo was taken in a field near a small village in Germany. The photo was taken with an Olympus OMD EM 10 and a Olympus Wide Angle Lens.

Sainfoin. Taken at High Ash Farm, Caistor St Edmund. Shame the insect was not in focus... I wasn't taking the photo of the hoverfly, I didn't actually see it when I took the photo! Perhaps I should have edited it out? What do you think?

Sunrise is a lovely time of day.

This was taken a few hundred yards from my house... Castlecaulfield has a wonderful horticultural society and they created a lovely wee conservation area just above the playing fields, and I stepped in through the gate to get this framed shot.

I was almost deafened with the birdsong, it was awesome!!

This week, we're in for lots of rain, but hopefully the sunshine is on the cards again soon. I hope our Summer isn't over just yet LOL

Have a great week every one, and thank you for taking the time to stop by and comment :)

I do love trying my hand at contre-jour... the snapper was my friend, he wasn't posing and, in this case I rather like the overly dark shadows. In reality, there were not as dark, but in b&w the camera has picked up the contrast to more effect.

Something different in the feed from a trip to Iceland last August. This was taken near famous Mt. Kirkjufell & Kirkjufellsfoss waterfalls.

Sunrise around False Creek in Vancouver, BC on a cold and cloudy October morning

On Sunday I co-lead a photo class at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. We were a big group with over 20 students. We walked along big fern trees. I placed my camera inside the fern tree, pointing up. The circular fisheye lens can see 210º, so wide I had to be careful that my fingers were not in the picture.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Flowers At Andrew Jackson's Heritage Gardens in Hermitage Tennessee.

I took this on the morning of the air show last year. It was on the way to a local Metra station. I think I’m lucky that I was able to live in the region surrounded with these pastoral scenes.

And the music is --> here

I did have a good camera with me when I came here back in the year 1990 but I did not have a wide angle lens. In those days good lenses still cost what they were really worth - it wasn't like today where you can buy excellent vintage glass for a fraction of what they originally went for. So I tried a disposable panorama camera, which is really no more than a toy. The lens, if you want to call it that, was just part of the plastic camera casing and it's absolute rubbish. Forget elements and groups and glass mixtures and coating and all that.

There also is quite some vignetting. I had not noticed that before.

Here it is shot with a decent camera: --> Click

Looking towards St Ives. A lovely stretch of coast line. Stayed earlier in the year for a week. Weather not so good but was excellent on this occasion.

Finally after 3 years of failed attempts, the summit of Cir Mhor is conquered, twice in 3 days. After summiting alone in thick cloud, I returned with my father for the second go. Having previously summited himself years ago in bad weather, I think both of us were overjoyed to see the view around us for the first time. Totally worthwhile. We will return.
