This pendant is my entry for the European Street Team's Weekly Challenge this week hosted by Jealousy Design and inspired by the book The Gnomes written by the Dutch Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet.
More information about this week's challenge and links to all entries may be found in Jealousy Design's blog here:

My entry originates from the wedding scene between two gnomes, during which the bride is kidnapped by trolls .....
**********************
Walking through the forest one day, I saw a tiny sparkle in the dappled light. I had stumbled upon a very rare object, it could only be an Elf's crown, worn on special occasions such as weddings. I was sure this had been lost during the scuffle when the Trolls had stormed the wedding of two Gnomes. Such a special object could not be tossed away. I turned it into this magical pendant to be enjoyed anew.
Active Assignment Weekly Jan 3-Jan 10: Wheels
Assignment:
Wheels make the world go ‘round. For this assignment you are to capture the essence of this wonder of invention and seek out the wheels that make your world turn.
Restriction: To add some challenge, NO wheels that are intended to carry vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes, wagons, trains, etc.) are allowed.
WIT: camera on the tripod , staged the mouse on my kitchen table with a book behind to add a background, SB600 on the right splashed off the wall. A bit of balancing in gimp
I think we take the mouse scroll wheel for granted, imagine a world without it....
Yesterday, our ARI volunteers did their weekly Young Lions Art Program workshop with the local Burmese refugee children and I was able to sneak out of the office to spend some time and take some pictures of these beautiful children. Chiang Mai is home to approximately 120,000 Burmese refugees and migrants in search of freedom from fear and oppression. What they find here in Thailand is far different from what they expect. The family members are utilized for cheap construction labor and not given rights or residency by the Thai government. As a result, they have no choice but to live in construction camp slums and their children are not allowed to attend school. Instead, you will find them wandering the streets trying to put food on the table. The Young Lions Art Program gives these children a chance to just be kids as well as to express themselves creatively. It has been a smashing success! We are trying to raise funds to reach out to the larger community of refugee children here in Chiang Mai. Take a peak at our project and lend your support! www.indiegogo.com/Young-Lions-Global-Art-Project-1

Country folks usually wait the whole day by the seashore for the fishermen to arrive to be able to clean and sort the catch and prepare them for distribution in the market. In the meantime, they watch over the children.

Day 90 of 2015. It's been a tougher than usual week, but I've had the space to bear down and focus. For the past few months, I've been using this quadrant system for setting priorities and monitoring progress (based on Christina Wodtke's system), and it's helped me tremendously.

Taken for Active Assignment Weekly: Zone System B&W
WIT: Found a scene that had some dynamic range. The Frost Tower is glass so it had a lot of varying shades in the reflections.
Only problem was I didn't take multiple exposures to apply HDR, so the shot out of the camera had a curve that was heavily skewed to the right (see graph below).....I can talk like this now thanks to Canon and the articles.... :)
In B&W conversion, I altered the Red, Green, Blue intensity along with a little contrast to bring the sky and some of the darker reflections in the tower out more. This apparently brought out the mid-tones more according to the histogram (see 2nd graph below).
As I look left to right in the picture, I believe I can see the B&W zones represented.....I think....
