At the top of Club Street is the Chinese Weekly Entertainment Club after which the street took its name. This was the socialising place for well-known names among the Chinese community who met for regular card games at the club, which was founded by a wealthy Peranakan in 1891. A number of the club's members later went on to establish some of Singapore's leading banks.

Active Assignment Weekly: Inside Out

I've been trying so hard lately to emulate Jay Maisel, but it's not working. I have to stick with my own style, and to me this is my own style. So sorry about all the submissions this week. Promise this is my final one.

Active Assignment Weekly: Cinematic Photography

A cinematic photo is one which looks like a frame taken from a movie. There are no definite rules, but a cinematic photo should present some strong mood or emotion (happy, sad, fear, love, etc.), and tell some kind of story to the viewer.

Restriction: The photo must be in landscape orientation (like a movie frame might be) - e.g. 4:3 or 16:9 ratio.

WIT: Tried to get my model to look contemplative and moody, alas, this is what I got. I'm thinking some sort of teen angst/coming-of-age film. Queue the sappy music...Straightened and cropped with adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation (only slightly).

My entry for this weeks challenge "oops"

Good week number 5! I turned 50 yesterday. Yes, that's right, the big five. OH. Oddly that doesn't bother me except for this 20 pounds I'd like to shed. My donnybrook in life is......weight. It really affected my grandmother's life and I fight to keep it from reaching the point it did with her. I don't want to be restricted in my activities or getting around....so, I'm going out to walk and shoot after I post this. But I digress. I feel better and happier than I ever did now that I'm 50. Now-about the photo-This is one from 2008-and i'm attempting to learn to use some new frames I just got and some digital paper I seem to collect....:) I also used an action called Swoon from Florabella. Here's the update on what's going on with me this week-I've just been to Denver on business, spent my birthday traveling home.....I'm still thinking about joining that camera club and I've been shopping for my new computer. Didn't realize how badly I'd out grown this one....it's only 150 MB hard drive.....that made me laugh. In looking at this, I think I should have called it a Barnscape. Now I'm just rambling.......LOL. This isn't perfect but I wanted to post up for the week so I went ahead. I learned something new and that was kind of the point........Have a great week!
