Active Assignment Weekly: Inside Out

I've been trying so hard lately to emulate Jay Maisel, but it's not working. I have to stick with my own style, and to me this is my own style. So sorry about all the submissions this week. Promise this is my final one.

Active Assignment Weekly: Cinematic Photography

A cinematic photo is one which looks like a frame taken from a movie. There are no definite rules, but a cinematic photo should present some strong mood or emotion (happy, sad, fear, love, etc.), and tell some kind of story to the viewer.

Restriction: The photo must be in landscape orientation (like a movie frame might be) - e.g. 4:3 or 16:9 ratio.

WIT: Tried to get my model to look contemplative and moody, alas, this is what I got. I'm thinking some sort of teen angst/coming-of-age film. Queue the sappy music...Straightened and cropped with adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation (only slightly).

My entry for this weeks challenge "oops"

The red is thicker, from the older primary set. It goes with my older blue I inherited from my grandma, and older green I inherited from husband's grandma.

The mustard 024 was a rehab project, and will be an everyday use.

The lime pie plate was a happy find, as well as the $2.50 flamingo pink cake dish

The 8x8 was a lucky eBay score to be an everyday use piece.

Active Assignment Weekly: March 30 to April 5- AAW Tribute

This is a tribute to Prozac74's amazing bathroom clones. I am so envious of your shots! They are so creative, so perfectly photoshopped, and so dang sharp!!! All the things this shot is not. I almost didn't submit because it is almost a disgrace rather than a tribute.

Anyways, the idea behind this shot is sometimes you look put together on the outside but feel like crap on the inside. I think the biggest issue (aside from the actual execution) is that the two subjects are not different enough. I considered shaving my beard for this one, but I couldn't pull the trigger.

WIT: Two shots layered and blended together in CS4. I tried an unsharp mask because the mirror reflection is a little blurry. I don't know how much it helped.
