UMT Crux. Gotta work on those grid things...!

Shot for Active Assignment Weekly 20-27 Mar 2017: Monochrome (not B&W)

"...take a photo in colour, and transform it into a monochrome, but NOT black-and-white. You can show us the original colour version too in the comment section of your photo, if you like.

Restriction: You cannot just take a picture that is one colour and use it as a monochrome for this assignment. The idea is to take a picture and transform it into a monochrome colour; otherwise it would just be a "mostly one colour" theme."

WIT: Plants at a local garden centre, converted to Black & White, then used Hue/Saturation and Colorize to bring back the green. Took me a long time to work out how to do this in Elements. Maybe there is a better way.

For this weekly, I went to capture the feeling of performing. As a drummer I get the need to play to keep my hands moving or just feel like relaxing a bit and pulling out a drum book and pad out some beats.

A week's worth of vegetables, all grown locally and organic from Whole Foods Market

Lots of treasure on the beach this week.

Found a tiny Georges Briard wall hanging that matches a few other pieces I own.

WIT

Vine shoot I saw on a bush today in the park. In pp, I turned upside down and applied a light-green screen and then converted to b/w.

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly - Sky Task.

This task made me think about what the act of 'looking to the sky' means to different people. There's also been a big story bouncing around the Australian media outlets about some poor guy who gave his SIM card to someone and ended up in jail for nearly a month on terrorism charges. (The charges were dropped last night).

So this image is meant to be a reminder that not everyone gets to look up at a clear blue sky and feel free.

*gets down off soap box*

What it took

A hunt around town for a barbed wire fence (I really wanted circles and circles of razor wire but this was the best I could do.)

A tiny bit of cropping and that's it!

What I took it with

Canon Ixus

I keep thinking I am drawing the string backwards but I looked and it is right. Maybe just something wrong with how I used it.

One of my fave foods is to put together one of these, and make it different every time.

Active Assignment Weekly: The World in a Mirror

Make a mirror an important part of your composition.

Restrictions: only minimal postprocessing is allowed, no changing of reality.

Dare: put more than one mirror in your composition.

WIT

On my home this morning, I went to this closed-down place that used to have mirrors. It wasn't there, so I wondered into this diner, took some quick shots and then got out.
