This striking Great Spotted Woodpecker posed perfectly on a mossy perch, showing off its bold black-and-white plumage and fiery splash of red beneath the tail. These birds are often heard before they’re seen drumming high up in the canopy but every now and then, with patience and a bit of luck, they grace us with a visit on lower ground.

This long-eared owl sat perfectly still, wrapped in its layers of beautifully patterned feathers, listening intently to the world around it. The light was soft, the air still a fleeting, peaceful encounter captured in black and white.

I love how this style brings out every texture in the plumage and every subtle curve in its posture. That sharp eye says it all alert, aware, and utterly wild.

Incredible to witness and capture a Long-eared Owl parent feeding its chick with a massive vole almost the size of the chick itself 😳

These chicks might look fluffy and cute, but their appetite is wild! It’s amazing how such a small and young owl can tackle prey that big nature doesn’t mess around. The intensity in those orange eyes says it all 🔥

Just had 5 minutes spare in the garden and grabbed my RF 100mm F2.8 macro lens felt inspired to dust it off and give it another go!

It’s been a while since I’ve done any freehand macro photography, so I was a little rusty… but it felt good to get back into it.
