Reinstatement of Spring water

The fresh spring water was blocked, irrigation channels were empty hence crops were suffering. RAHA reinstated the spring and constructed more irrigation channels.
Now the locals are growing and selling almonds, grapes, different vegetables and also export quality apples and cherries.

UNDP Southern Innovator Magazine Issue 5: Waste and Recycling
Launched in May 2011, the new global magazine Southern Innovator is about the people across the global South shaping our new world, eradicating poverty and working towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
They are the innovators.
Issue 1 covered the theme of mobile phones and information technology. Issue 2 covered the theme of youth and entrepreneurship. Issue 3 covered the theme of agribusiness and food security. Issue 4 covered the theme of cities and urbanization. Issue 5 covers the theme of waste and recycling.

Muhammad Jaan, 103 says, “RAHA is a breath of fresh air for the locals especially women, earlier we were only restricted to household chores and now I conduct a monthly meeting at my place with the help of the facilitators. We are more aware of our surroundings and I haven’t felt this productive in my entire life”.

UNDP staff just received work and protective gear for up to 500 workers as well as 2000 solar lanterns and other solar powered tools with the help of our friends at UNHDR in Dubai. The equipment will be used to kick start cash for work activities that will remove debris and disaster waste in several disaster affected communities
