This big guy was crossing the road so we stopped for a photo!! He looked so old with moss growing all over his shell & his paw/foot was all mangled. At first we thought he might be a snapping turtle but I think he's a painted turtle. Hope you all have a great weekend, stay safe!!

A turtle by the pool in Alanya, Turkey.

Went out today with daughter and captured these images. It was the most beautiful day away from beach. We are still having gloom days towards the shores......

I saw a lot of these turtles through out the Okanagan, they were very common. In the lower mainland most of them are gone having lost their space to an introduced species.

Found in West Virginia

My friend(think Mrs) the box turtle apparently missed the severe storm warning. Seen here being deluged by the runoff from the driveway. My question for my flickr friends is why has she raised so high on her rear legs, I have never seen that particular behavior from her before. My choices are: 1. it is close to the time of the year when they bury their eggs, so raising her legs gets the eggs out of the cold water and protects their temperature. 2. Like me having a cold wet ass is very unpleasant. 3. Some other choice or option. Check the video of how she got there.

Update: Thanks all, after some more research (initial research was about 30+ yrs ago), here we go: the red eyes indicate this is a male...so the egg theory is out...the disliking a wet ass seems to be in. In the video, water can be seen draining from the shell when it raises up(probably like water filled shoes). Given that they live 50 to 100+ years, this one has been here all 33yrs I have lived on the property. There are two others and they are females as I have watched them lay eggs. This one was in the blackberry patch the other day so is likely stuffed...

How many red-eared turtles will fit on a rock?

Northern Map turtle was slipping into the water. I was checking the osprey nest about fifty feet higher than the turtle.

Since my plans of travelling to Kenya has changed, I had to redirect my camera for another indoor subjects.

Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall was the ideal place.

This lovely Pig-nosed turtle was one of many creatures I found there.

I can't tell you much about this guy other than what you see in the photo, but if anyone can help me with identification, I'd really appreciate it!

Context for the tags theme for MM next Monday

This Green male turtle was totally absorbed eating small pieces of what looke like sea grass, and was indifferent to our presence.

Sorry I'm a day late with the theme, but I hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day! ;-)))

Pretty sure the turtle receiving the flower is a Red-eared slider.
