This Turtle lives in a small, indoor pool in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. I did some searching on Google, but didn't manage to find one that looked like this.

This old gal came through the winter in very good shape. She is a very large one also. Snapping turtles are known to forage under the ice during the winter months.

Even among turtles, the Blanding’s is a long-lived species. In fact, these turtles have been documented to successfully breed past 70 years of age. Like most long-lived creatures they have a lower reproductive rate. Compared to most midwestern turtles, Blanding’s lay smaller clutches of eggs and lay less frequently.

Turtles are an order of reptiles which are all types characterized by a firm and often spherical shield .

The dogs found this small Painted Turtle just outside of the chicken yard. They are really pretty on the bottom, where the top is a plain color. I don’t worry about them bothering the ducks so I took it on over to the pond. When I put it down near the water it took stock of where it was at then leaped into the water and was gone. It must have had some frog in it also.

Heosemys spinosa hatching on 9 October 2010. This is the second one of these I have hatched at home. Unfortunately, I did not think the egg was initially viable and failed to write down the date it was laid.

That's where I first saw the turtle. I turned back and helped it to the side. A small to mid-sized beauty, I waited ten minutes for it to peek out and finally gave up and went on my way. A different type of turtle than I'm used to seeing.
