Shooting the PA Transit commuter train outside Pittsburgh on the morning of 7 August 1986, we caught this nice diversion in the form of a westbound Chessie freight, charging up the B&O mainline behind GP40-2 No. 4147 and SD40 No. 7518.
The owner is a really nice guy. Talked to him a few times and if I'm not mistaken, he has had quite a few other Porsches.
An Amtrak Empire service train departs Beacon on a hot and hazy August morning in 1994.
The RTL Turboliner trainsets were based on the earlier RTG Turboliners which were in turn developed from the French ANF gas-turbine T 2000 RTG "Turbotrain" trainsets.
Built by Rohr Industries, the RTL Turboliners were delivered to Amtrak in 1976-77 for use in upstate New York on the Empire Service (New York-Albany-Buffalo) and Adirondack (New York-Montreal).
They were withdrawn from service shortly after this photo.
