AAW - Time Passing
Took hundreds of photos of the after effects of a recent wind storm we had here. I thought this one best represented time passing.
WIT: The wind was still gusting, although not as fast, so I took a beating from the cold wind and all the debris flying around. When I got home I found sand in my pockets! :) Other than that I used my bridge camera, so I could easily zoom in and out without having to change lenses. I would like to go back and try a few more ideas, but it's hard to stay creative when your face is being pelted by what feels like a million tiny pieces of glass! lol
Used Lightroom and SilverEfex to produce the B&W and cropped the photo to emphasize the water.
I Mark the Summer's Swift Decline
by Henry David Thoreau
I mark the summer's swift decline
The springing sward its grave clothes weaves
Whose rustling woods the gales confine
The aged year turns on its couch of leaves.
Oh could I catch the sounds remote
Could I but tell to human ear—
The strains on which the breezes float
And sing the requiem of the dying year.

An old, rusted bicycle lying half in the water, reflecting the beauty of impermanence and the passage of time.
A good friend who, after seeing the B&W version of this shot, asked if there were a color version. And here it is ! Slainte!

I see you in my dreams
I feel you all around
your voice runs through my head
and yet you can't be found
I lie awake at night
I'm wishing you were here
this feeling that I feel
of wanting you so near
The days and nights are long
the hours all stand still
the wanting of your warmth
is what keeps me here
And yet I keep on looking
but still you can't be found
I guess I'll just stop looking
In hopes you'll come around
To find my one and only
My one true love to be
My heart will wait for eternity
Until your here with me.

In the narrow lanes of a 2 sq mile Madanpura area in Varanasi, the hand-loom weaver industry toils away - making the famous Banarasi silk. This little boy was like a "guard" at the entrance of this homemade silk 'factory' and wanted to inspect my camera while I was shooting.
Varanasi (Sanskrit: वाराणसी Vārāṇasī, also commonly known as Benares or Banaras (Hindi: बनारस, Urdu: بنارس, Banāras) is a city situated on the banks of the River Ganges in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, regarded as holy by Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and probably the oldest of India. Mark Twain wrote: "Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together."

A riddle from The Hobbit:
"This thing all things devours,
Birds, beasts, trees, and flowers.
Gnaws iron bites steel,
Grinds hard stones to meal,
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down."

For those who are born on 29th Feb. Have a special treat from me. :-))). These folks are lucky, even at the age of 64, they can still claim that they are only 16. (Arguing that their birth day came only 16 times since they were born)

"Light rain-drops fall and wrinkle the sea,
Then vanish, and die utterly.
One would not know that rain-drops fell
If the round sea-wrinkles did not tell.
So souls come down and wrinkle life
And vanish in the flesh-sea strife.
One might not know that souls had place
Were't not for the wrinkles in life's face."
Sidney Lanier
The Lonely Planet says, "Few places in India are as colourful, charismatic or spiritual as the bathing ghats lining the Ganges in Varanasi ... a walk along the ghats or a boat ride on the river is one of India’s most absorbing experiences." This shot was taken from a boat across the Ghats.

Only 65 to go!
Due to a misadventure involving seals, sea, mud, lost boots (and good sense) and waves my planned tranquil sunset marking 300 shots went fubar. Instead i counted my blessings and retreated to the kitchen for some safe tabletop photography. Figured that some sort of time marking image was appropriate to mark 300 though.
(This watch was the 7th shot of my 365 series, i think (hope) there's been a progression ;-) )
Latest in my 365 project -
As always all comments, advice & suggestions welcome...
