We put one cucumber plant into a much smaller pot, and watched it go. Still grew a couple cucumbers!! It worked hard all year, and did a good job.
The now thriving thyme is next to it.

Despite being close to the city centre if you look it's amazing how much wild flowers and wildlife there is around.
Among the flowers are five varieties of thyme, two of rosemary and a cuban oregano. Lobelia, million bells, and wild violets and pansies grace the nodes in between.

Unfortunately, the last batch of herbs did not survive the winter. Here's attempt #2 at container growing. I've added tomatoes to the new peat soil pellets yesterday. So grateful for more warmth and hours of sunlight each day!
This carpet of thyme came from a little pot's worth a few years ago. At last, we have a path covered in it. It's like a velvet carpet. The part in the middle is suffering a bit.
