Who don’s the better thrown?
A: Mother of Dragons in the Game of Thrones
B: Allie from the House of Keshet on her Throne of Sticks?
Bryce Canyon National Park is a fascinating place. The eroded layers have exposed the greatest concentration of hoodoos on Earth. Returning from chasing the solar eclipse elsewhere in Utah, we stopped by Bryce Canyon to stretch our legs and eat lunch. Mid-day on a sunny day generally is not known to be the best time for landscape photography as the light can be harsh and at a high angle. But Bryce has a special trick up its sleeve. This landscape is essentially a bouncy castle for light. With a long lens especially you can find interesting compositions where the shadow side of the spectacular canyons are illuminated by light bouncing off of nearby hoodoos and canyon walls to wondrous effect. Here I was captivated by this pine tree, which seemed to be upon its own massive throne. I made numerous attempts at compositions, and only after a few months of distance and generous cropping which sacrificed fully half the resolution, I found this that I am pretty happy with. Bathed in warm reflected light, other parts of the canyon behind drop into shadow. The scale seems almost miniature until I remind myself that this tree is probably 30 to 40 feet tall.
My way of sharing the love that is game of thrones, it is an adult program and it does not pull any punches , these are a few of my fav characters ,it's taken most of my collection to put this together, it is all genuine Lego apart from a couple of swords and a pair of mini legs. all heads are Lego ( believe it or not ) so let the quotes begin because " winter is coming "
Coronation Throne of Norbugang signifies the place where crowning of the first Chogyal king - Phuntsog Namgyal took place in the year 1642. The Coronation throne, which has the "appearance of an old Olympic Medal Podium" is made of stones, which has been white washed now. The stone throne has four seats, with the top one intended for Lama Lhatsun Chhempo. The coronation took place under the pine tree, which is still present today.
Alien Throne stands in the Valley of Dreams, a remote field of hoodoos on Navajo Nation land in the northwestern New Mexico badlands. It’s filled with petrified wood — even petrified trunks and branches — and is rich with fossils. It’s just outside the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness, where paleontologists discovered not the Triceratops, but the Pentaceratops. Alien Throne is a hoodoo. They’re formed by erosive forces like wind, rain, and flowing water beating away at stacked layers of soft and hard rock. The softer layers wear down relatively quickly, but the harder layers resist for longer — eventually, we’re left with impossible shapes. Hoodoos tend to have hard “cap rocks” on top, which protect the soft layers, and alien features, below.
This picture stems from an unexpected discovery at the Pose Me Amazing event. I went pose shopping (as my linden balance will tell you, that's something I do pretty often) and somehow found myself in a dark abbey. Inside was a throne that reminded me of Game of Thrones. Inspired, I dug out my Diesel crown (from their current group gift) and changed into my red gown and pretended I was Queen Cersei. Only then did I notice the dead bodies all around...
TP to Pose Me Amazing and take a short walk to the Abbey to see this for yourself

Some of the most awesome light I have witnessed in 14 years of doing landscape photography full time. No compositing, no light bleeding, no Photoshop trickery here. A single shot with conservative adjustments.
Kevin Finn McNeal and I chased a Mega Thunderstorm from Kanab, Utah to Wotans Throne, Grand Canyon (Arizona) and we were very richly rewarded. I’ll never forget this shoot the rest of my life. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

🇬🇧 Today I share with you a photo of my last trip to the United States last May with Paco, Felipe and Delfin, specifically in New Mexico there are deserts with sandstone formations that are completely amazing and it seems that you are on another planet.
The horizon was quite covered, but finally the sun made an appearance and we had to take a shot with the starry sun, I did almost all the shots with the sun in horizontal and when the sun had little power I did this shot in vertical that finally has been the one I liked the most to edit it.
Just going back to my summer trip here as the northern November winds have settled in here at home.
When I was looking for comps as I was shooting this, I didn't see this couple at first sitting out on the ledge. When I finally did see them I was frustrated that they were "in my way", but after a few seconds I figured "No Worry" as I could easily clone them out (and I did on a previous post from here). After getting home and letting this digest a bit, I found that by having them in the comp it added a bit more interest than without them, especially since I was treated to bland boring cloudless skies.
Now on a personal note... Are people NUTZ???? or is it that I'm too "safe" to be a great landscape photographer? I actually got within several feet of the rim twice and my doodads were up in my throat when I looked down and realized if the ground gave way (and it does being sandstone!!!!) there was nothing between me and the bottom. I'm not usually bothered by heights, but a mile drop is something totally different. :-)
With all that being said, I wish I was there now. :-)
Thanks for looking, and reading if you clicked on the shot. ;-)~
The Throne room has a large stone seat, originally identified as a king's Thone.
later interpretaions don't come to the same conclusions
Knossos is the largest bronze age archaeological site on Crete and is considered Europe's oldest city.
The palace of Knossos was undoubtedly the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. It appears as a maze of workrooms, living spaces, and storerooms close to a central square.
The area was first settled about 7000BC and abandoned after siesmic tremmors around 1380–1100 BC.
In the first palace period around 2000 BC the urban area reached a size of up to 18,000 people. In its peak the Palace and the surrounding city boasted a population of 100,000 people shortly after 1700 BC.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Royal Wedding! I'm not usually into the Royal Family, but their goings on certainly unites the country, and that's a good thing.
My website is down at the moment, but please look me up on facebook and I now have a brand new addiction that is tweeting. Oh dear!
