Our Daily Challenge - Threshold (the edge of this subject is the threshold to its contents)
Tonight, I shot something familiar to me lately as I was trapped in the house. I got the idea for this shot from a favorited photo of mine, that I unfortunately cannot locate now. I'll update this if I can find it, but right now, I'm just tired.
Subject?? Shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Our Daily Challenge 29 January -4 February : Step, Ledge, Edge.
My doorstep is in meed of repair, which may happen this summer.
"How many of those I knew
(if I really knew them),
men, women
(if the distinction still holds)
have crossed that threshold
(if it is a threshold)
passed over that bridge
(if you can call it a bridge) -
How many, after a shorter or longer life
(if they still see a difference),
good, because it's beginning,
bad, because it's over
(if they don't prefer the reverse),
have found themselves on the far shore
(if they found themselves at all
and if another shore exists) -
I've been given no assurance
as concerns their future fate
(if there is one common fate
and if it is still fate) -
It's all
(if that word's not too confining)
behind them now
(if not before them) -
How many of them leaped from rushing time
and vanished, ever more mournfully, in the distance
(if you put stock in perspective) -
How many
(if the question makes sense,
if one can verify a final sum
without including oneself)
have sunk into that deepest sleep
(if there's nothing deeper) -
See you soon.
See you tomorrow.
see you next time.
They don't want
(if they don't want) to say that anymore.
They've given themselves up to endless
(if not otherwise) silence.
They're only concerned with that
(if only that)
which their absence demands."

All these photos are from tonight - I was entranced to see, first of all, the great silver-lined cloud in front of the sun then the amazing rainbow light behind the cloud. I have heard of this and I think there is a name for these cloud rainbows but I don't know what it is. Finally, the sun pierced the cloud in an eye-burning spot of light illuminating the clouds below so they burned a fiery red.
"Stepping beyond the threshold renders everything in vivid color and crisp sharpness!" he reminded the museum-goers while shuffling his feet.
As seen on a recent visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, NY.

A blurry grab shot of a heavily vandalised 'Gatso' Gatsometer 24 fixed speed camera on Broomfield Road in the City of Chelmsford in Essex (UK).
Gatso 24 fixed speed cameras emit a permanent radar beam to measure the speed of a passing vehicle. If the vehicle is travelling above the camera trigger speed, two photographs are taken generally at a 0.7 second interval. The flash will always emit on each frame regardless of lighting conditions.
The speed of the trigger vehicle is then calculated after the wet film is removed by a Safety Camera Partnership operative using the two photographs and the distance travelled on the calibration markings in the roadway just beyond the camera.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has issued speed enforcement policy guidance which states that enforcement will normally occur when a driver exceeds the speed limit by a particular margin. This is normally 10 per cent over the speed limit plus 2 mph.
It also sets guidelines for when it would not be appropriate to issue a fixed penalty notice but to issue a magistrates court summons instead. Note that these are guidelines and that the speed camera partnership has discretion to act outside of them providing they act fairly consistently and proportionately.
The speed limit on this particular road is 30 mph, the ACPO guideline charging threshold is 35 mph and the magistrates court summons threshold is 50 mph.
This speed camera is manufactured by the Dutch company Gatsometer B.V.
Looks like they'll have an order for a new one here very soon..

all'epoca ero l'addetta dello sportello
ti chiamavo a tarda notte col telefono senza fili,

Charcoal image of a photo I took in Frankfurt Germany, of a wall of an apartment building. All Apartment buildings I've ever lived in were ramshackle huts, compared to this. It was the monolithic and detailed architecture that caught my attention, for what it really was. I had a nude woman in front of the door at first, but decided to remove her as she was merely an obstruction.
