Making thread on a 30 gramme bottom-weighted drop spindle, from natural Corriedale wool roving.

This photo eventually used to illustrate another project for which I had no photos.

But you can totally hand-spin your sewing thread!

Juliette embellished this suit with two designs from Urban Threads, chopped up and arranged in software to embellish the entire front of the jacket. Love the curviness of the designs, the cut, and the piecing!

I used to love coming down here for a look around. It was tangled, untroubled quiet and peaceful. It seemed time had stood still. Then inexplicably the tidy squad moved in and spoiled the restfulness, cut down the ivy, laid out the stones, bared the timeless tangles and it no longer held the mystery or even was the wildlife haven but when i venture a glance what is this? A plait of ivy stretching from tree to tree, as odd as the sticks laid across the bare earth? and the bones?

Love this mix of thread types - all in different shades of pink. Good for embroidery, crazy quilting.

At his thread ceremony. head shaved, the ceremonial rice grains thrown at him were hurting him a little... He was really happy, though.

Sometimes, when I see how everything constantly evolves, maybe there is no need for all these elaborate ceremonies. The purpose is not clear. These occasions were meant for something very practical. I was arguing with another one of my cousins, the very superfluity of such ceremonies, and why we don't need them in such magnitude in today's given scenario. But he proved me wrong. It was all necessary...

We are a capitalist society, and its prime aspect is the consumer. or SPENDING.

After all, we all are responsible citizens of the country. We must spend to keep our economy alive. This whole thing is fairly simple...

Spend, so that others may survive...

Hand threaded collage vintage book cover: "Hanging"

I've got surprisingly good finish @85 rpm and 0.005" deep cut. Hard to say, what exactly helped: very solid and thick boring bar, intensive cleanup (every two passes), intensive lubrication (it works better with internal threads), or all these factors.

But on the next photo you can see the thread surface in high magnification, and it looks good.

Another great sign for me is to get it without any signs of visible burr.

My sewing threads collection has greatly benefited from the acquisition of a couple of second hand storage racks.

My mom is into cross stitching and she's about to start a new project. I was tinkering with my cam when I saw her threads and saw how colorful they are and how pretty it would look on photo. So here..

Red thread by Lou Baker was part of an amazing exhibition in Shepton Mallet prison as part of Somerset art 2019. The exhibition B Wing explored the theme of incarceration and was such an amazing setting. Red thread ran thrpough multiple cells on the second floor of the wing reflecting traces of grief, anger, blood... Powerful art.
