A film I worked on (as an actor) in the Bay Area for a month last fall, "The Master", had a special advanced screening at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco on August 21st. The film is written, directed, and edited by Paul Thomas Anderson and stars Joaquin Pheonix, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. The director and producer were in attendance of the screening.
This may be as close as I get to golfs holy ground. Interestingly the street view reveals a very non-descript entrance with a parking lot to some shopping center across the street.

It rained on us for about 10 minutes. No Phones so we had to do selfies with the camera timer...just like the old days :)
Portions of the 2012 film "The Master" (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Joaquin Pheonix, Phillip Seymour Hoffman & Amy Adams - All nominated for Oscars for their roles in the film) were shot on this ship which is docked at Jack London Square in Oakland CA.
I had the pleasure of working as an actor on this film on the USS Potomac for 4 weeks in July of 2011.
Saw 'The Master' a couple weeks ago. The film was a bit disjointed at certain points but I really enjoyed it. I'm always fascinated with anything having to do with a "cult" type group. It was beautifully shot and superbly acted. If Joaquin Phoenix doesn't win the Oscar, I will be a very unhappy woman. He completely transformed for this role and was truly amazing in it.

The most famous philosophers of ancient times move within an imposing Renaissance architecture which is inspired by Bramante's project for the renewal of the early Christian basilica of St Peter. Some of these are easily recognizable. In the centre Plato points upwards with a finger and holds his book Timeus in his hand, flanked by Aristotle with Ethics; Pythagoras is shown in the foreground intent on explaining the diatesseron. Diogenes is lying on the stairs with a dish, while the pessimist philosopher, Heracleitus, a portrait of Michelangelo, is leaning against a block of marble, writing on a sheet of paper. Michelangelo was in those years executing the paintings in the nearby Sistine Chapel. On the right we see Euclid, who is teaching geometry to his pupils, Zoroaster holding the heavenly sphere and Ptolemy holding the earthly sphere. The personage on the extreme right with the black beret is a self-portrait of Raphael.
