The village also has the oldest Methodist church in continuous use in the world which I failed to get a decent photo of. It's an octagonal chapel. The foundation stone was laid by John Wesley himself. See www.uppercaldermethodists.org.uk/e.html?1213280187

Called Woollen Cloth Stock Exchange, it is, with the street of “La Parerie”, a testimony to the intense clothing industry activity that animated the city during the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries. It is in the house of “Inquants” (criers) where the price was fixed, and the commercial transactions were entered in big registers. The house of Inquants, dated from 13th and 14th centuries, included in its original architecture three Gothic openings which opened on the old street of “La Parerie” (Nowadays, H. Berlioz Street).
