Rotor hubs are made from spare servo arms with a brass collett stuck in the middle. Blades are one eighth balsa.
This image was taken for my photography documentary project on animal cruelty. It was taken at my local pound. Sadly in reality many of the animals in the pounds across the world are destroyed because of no fault of their own. Just that people don't want them. But still continue to breed unhealthy animals, without a thought of what they are contributing to the already over population of animals, desperately needing homes.
So please go to your local rescue centre and save a life!!!!

7 years ago I was terrified of exams, starting a new school and big stuff like that. Even could work myself up to the point of being sick.
Now however I am about to find out my a-level results, the results that people say 'decide the rest of your life' and I am completely fine. Excited even. Now maybe its because the grades I need are really low because the course is portfolio based or becasue I know that that assumption that academic credit is future-proofing you with a career is a load of nonsense.
A very smart man said at a TED conference once that the only people that benefit out of our current education system are university lecturers, they are the top end produce of the system, the top rung on the ladder.
Though how many really great people, people that did great stuff, went to school, went to a top university, landed a top carreer and became 'successful'. But even though the education system doesnt promise great things to happen as a result of it it has somehow become the thing that everyone is pressured into going through as far as they can.
Go take a gap year, go learn some skills in something you love doing. Work hard. Education is great but it isnt everything.
My thoughts on this point in life can be found here. I wrote that a day or two ago but it's even mroe relevant now on the eve of results day.
Honestly, I'm quite excited :)
BIG empty space where I should have been sitting.
Brought her down to the new place yesterday and if she hasn't been hiding under the couch she's been hiding under the bed sheets.
Strobist: Bare LP160 @ 1/2 power and shot into the ceiling, camera right - triggered via Cactus v4. Diffused through the white bed sheets
This giant beast of a spider is living outside my garage. I had to overcome my immense fear of spiders to take this photo. Funny story, the first time i tried to get my finger in there for scale, I accidentally touched the web which made the spider crawl upwards and me freak out like a little girl...this was a stressful one
this weekend, a large red-tailed hawk circled the yard a few times, lit in a nearby tree and then circled a few more times. about 10 minutes later, I spotted this poor soul still hunkered down in the tree.
Isn't he cute? Dressed like a little lumberjack even. It's baby Jasper (Val of Cabin & Cub's little boy) and I'm holding him without fear (big step).
Lady's Fingers is another name for Ocra. This is news to me.

In this picture at the Milwaukee County zoo, I was lucky enough to capture the jaguar yawning. The lighting behind the glass was perfectly set like a spotlight on the animal, which helped to make him look so photogenic. I had to have a fast shutter speed to catch his jaw and mouth in motion. I also used the rule of thirds so he wasn't dead center in the photograph. I think there's also an interesting aspect to it because it looks like he could be roaring and angry, but he was just tired!
