Supervisor Horvath spoke to volunteers and Telemundo reporters during her office's County Resource Telethon. Callers could directly speak with representatives from 8 COunty departments to get questions on resources available to them like rent relief, MediCal, tenant's rights info, immigrations right's support, and more. The Telethon took place at the Telemundo52 studio in Studio City on December 9, 2025.

I'm not sure if this was being broadcast live; there was a satellite truck behind me, the kind that does beam the signal to the network for live telecasting. This is apparently from some "Today" like show that gets the audience as part of the show. They were shooting from the main steps of Grand Park, where one crosses the street from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, taking one down to the park itself. I'm not sure why this particular spot was chosen; perhaps it was for L.A. City Hall to be deliberately in the background as some sort of gesture (quite possibly the middle finger gesture) to Donald Trump. Also, Telemundo's main studios are just down the street on Temple, several blocks behind me to the west.

On Oct. 3, 1965, at the base of the Statue of Liberty, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Immigration and Nationality Act, also called the Hart-Celler Act. In commemoration of that historic event, the LBJ Presidential Library on Oct. 1, 2015 presented a panel discussion, Immigration: Pathway to the American Dream, on the important immigration issues we face today. Topics included how immigration shapes our country and influences the American economy.
Discussion participants were Tom Gjelten, an NPR correspondent for more than 30 years; Bill Hammond, CEO of the Texas Association of Business; and Dr. Victoria DeFrancesco Soto, fellow at the Center for Politics and Governance at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, outreach director for the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, political analyst for Telemundo, and contributor to MSNBC and NBCNews.com.
