Lenni Heights Engine 54 (sta 54) completing the deck gun challenge

Milestones, Basingstoke, 29th May 2004

It was a thrilling moment. On 14 August 1947, on the even of India's independence, we glued ourselves to the radio in our little school a hundred miles from Calcutta. It was almost exactly four years after the terrible famine we had seen as young children (with millions dying) . . . Those were terrible days, but August 1947 was a different and a joyous time. In celebration of independence and in welcoming a democratic India, Jawaharlal Nehru's voice roared load and clear over the radio, telling us about India's "tryst with destiny". The "task ahead" including "the ending of poverty and ignorance and disease and inequality of opportunity." We heard with rapt attention and we felt powerfully inpsired.

On November 19, 2023, NS International, DB, in collaboration with the NVBS, said goodbye to the 1700 locomotive series. As of December 10, 2023, their task will be taken over by Vectron locomotives. A tour was organized through the Netherlands (Amersfoort, Zwolle, Olst, Deventer, Arnhem, Tilburg, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort). The highlight was a locomotive line up at Rotterdam Stadium station. There were the locomotives NS 1746, 1745, 1744, Rail Force One 1828, Rail Feeding 4402 (former 1609), Strukton Charlotte (former 1756), Volker Rail 7178 (former 1778), Train Charter 101001 (former 1781), 102001 (former 1835) and of course the locomotives of the farewell train 1761 and 1750 and the DB carriages of IC Berlin.

Er werd een rondrit georganiseerd door Nederland (Amersfoort, Zwolle, Olst, Deventer, Arnhem, Tilburg, Rotterdam, Utrecht en Amersfoort). Hoogtepunt was een locomotieven line up in station Rotterdam Stadion.

The 449th Combat Aviation Brigade held a change of responsibility ceremony for outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew Shorter and incoming CSM Michael Reilly in the hanger of their flight facility on December 5, 2021.

The change of responsibility ceremony is a military tradition filled with symbolism and heritage, which honors the senior non-commissioned officer leaving the leadership position and recognizes the new NCO that will take their place.

In this task, the participants had to drive over various terrains under instruction in a Land Rover Defender. The terrain simulated river crossings, steep inclines and declines and rough terrain.

Driving a short course that required finesse and accuracy, the participants attempted to manoeuvre the car through a sequence of gates.
