This image, taken from an early Manchester City Police intelligence ledger, depicts a man well known to police officers in Manchester and beyond.
Benjamin Keats, also known as Benjamin Walker, Benjamin Wacker and Edward Davis, repeatedly fell foul of the law between 1850 and 1890. He eventually spent half of the period in prison for a range of offences.
His crimes ran from assault and larceny to, most notably, highway robbery, for which he received a seven year sentence in Glasgow in 1883.
This was to be his final appearance in the records of Manchester City Police.

"You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your handsome prince." ...
Well, I'd kiss a frog even if there was no promise of a "perfect" Prince Charming popping out of it. I love frogs....
Ps:..But im lucky I found a KING..
There'll be parties for hosting,
marshmallows for toasting and
caroling out in the snow.
there'll be scary ghost stories and
tales of the glories of Christmases
long, long ago.

"One day, Little Red Riding Hood’s mother said to her, “Take this basket of goodies to your grandma’s cottage, but don’t talk to strangers on the way!” Promising not to, Little Red Riding Hood skipped off. On her way she met the Big Bad Wolf... Little Red Riding Hood screamed and the woodcutters in the forest came running to the cottage..."
About a year ago I explored fairy tales and alternate endings/stories using Red Riding Hood. I decided to revisit this old tale and spin yet another ending to the story in which the woodcutters in the forest didn't quite save Little Red.

Here once flint walls,
Pump, orchard and wood pile stood.
Blue periwinkle crawls
From the lost garden down into the wood.
The flowerless hours
Of winter cannot prevail
To blight these other flowers,
Blue china fragments scattered, that tell the tale.
