After a few days of helping move Alison to Austin we took an afternoon and went to Wonderspaces. An amazing immersive and interactive art show in town.

It was hard to properly capture the experience in photos. These are just three of 12 art installations. From left to right: 'Body Paint', turning physical movement into different blends of color and shape; 'Sewing Machine Orchestra' 12 synchronized sewing machines providing a concert of sound and light; 'Submergence', hanging strands of lights changing color in sync with music.

Re-mastered is an 'interactive' audio-visual experience in Rotterdam city centre. You go through several rooms and in each room they have a bunch op projectors which project movies on the walls and the floors. The projector output quality is excellent with high resolution images and good contrast. The images are in sync with music from the cinema grade sound system. In the first room they have sensors on the walls and floor and the room responds to the input from the sensors.

The big show is in the last room and they show art from the big Dutch masters: Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Mondriaan.

How is it? It's okay. But it is a low budget ripoff of TeamLab Planets/ Borderless in Tokyo (www.teamlab.art) and Carrières des Lumières (www.carrieres-lumieres.com) in the South of France.

Went up to the Enchanted forest at the weekend for their penultimate show of the season. It was brilliant, I highly recommend it. Great lighting synced with music and about a bazillion photo oppurtunities.

Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo Disneyland

Happiness on High Fireworks

Tokyo Disney Resort does a lot of things really, really well, but fireworks shows are not one of those things. Whereas fireworks shows in the US are "spectaculars," the show in Japan is launched between the two parks, isn't as in sync with music, and is short by comparison. That is, if the show even occurs--on our first visit to Japan, it was canceled for 5 consecutive nights. Suffice to say, the fireworks are sort of an afterthought. (On the plus side, the fireworks bursts themselves are quite nice for photographing!)

For this reason, I'm pretty excited that Tokyo Disneyland is getting Once Upon a Time, a show that is being compared to Disney Dreams in Paris. I don't expect it will be quite as elaborate as the flagship Disneyland Paris show, but if it's even half that good, it will be a huge add for Tokyo Disney Resort, which already has a solid nighttime entertainment slate.

Thinking of visiting Japan? Take a look at our new, 6,000+ word Tokyo Disney Resort Trip Planning Guide. It has tips for visiting the theme parks, plus some advice for Japan, in general.

Thanks for your views, comments, and faves!

Now this is going all out! This house was featured on the evening news back on Dec. 1, 2010. The house is located in Round Rock about 6 miles east of I-35.

We had to tune into 106.9FM in our car to listen and watch. Short clip captured with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and an old 1981 Kiron 24mm f/2 manual focus lens.

The Giant Christmas Tree at the Festhaus - it as lights that flash in sync with music.

December 29

This is, hands down, the most insane Christmas lighting setup I've ever seen. Even crazier, all the lights here pulse and flash in sync with music every few minutes, just like the house in that viral video, but at a WAY larger scale.

We started out at Epcot, where we wandered through the countries most of the day. We had a delicious lunch at a place in the UK called Rose and Crest, which also gave us a chance to sit down for awhile. I speak for the group when I say we all have a newfound appreciation for sitting.

After Epcot we headed to Downtown Disney for dinner and a bit of shopping. I forgot just how cool that area is! Hopefully Emily is enjoying all of her first experiences at these places.

We finished the evening at the Hollywood Studios park, which houses the Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, and this amazing lighting display. We did a lot of walking, but there's so much to see! Those two rides are also a couple of my favorites in all of Disney World. Still good!

This video was taken in Dec 2011 and its in my phone for all these days. Its a christmas lights synced with music on radio.

It took me this long to post this.

Hong Sung-dae, a performer for the organization Yae-Mun Gwan, dances to the beat of traditional Korean percussion instruments. The particular technique is called “Yul Dobal” - a performance in sync with music while wearing the sangmo hat. These demonstrations are part of a traditional performance called “Fire Ceremony” where a fighting style originating in the 18th century is used. The ceremony is performed daily in Seoul at the top of Namsan trail. Photo by Russell Wicke

a late night, deadline looming animation anyone?

it involved various blinking elements which needed to be synced with music. While it seems ridiculous and unwieldy, it allowed easy copying and pasting of the multitude of illustrator layers I was working with, most I copied from other timelines which I'd organized more gracefully.

Taken from Electrified with David Blaine at Pier 54 on Hudson River Park. The Tesla coils in the show are synced with music. They only come on when a note or notes are played. Andrew WK is set to play a performance on Sunday night. I suppose the rest of the time some previously recorded music is playing.

3 Kites, flown in complete sync with music, by a single person using a control bar

On Thursday, June 12, 2008; we lounged around the timeshare having breakfast on the patio. Then we rode the shuttle down to Harrah's and had a steak (with our coupon from the timeshare meeting) at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill. Next we listened to some free live entertainment at Harrah's Carnaval Court. That evening Carl and I used the free tickets from the timeshare to a mentalist show at Hooter's. He and I then drove to Paris Las Vegas and went up to the top of the Eiffel Tower Experience to take night photos of the strip.

#7~The Floating I Milenko Prvacki, Ryf Zaini and Dr. Robert Casteels (Singapore)

Venue: Marina Bay lower boardwalk steps

LighthouseEditionhttps://www.ilightsingapore.sg/Discover/Installations/The-Floating-Lighthouse

The Floating Lighthouse is a metaphor of lightness and interactivity that intrigues the senses of sight, hearing and touch. It is made up of sustainable materials; flexible, resilient and resourceful, just like the people of Singapore. As the lighthouses gently float in Marina Bay, visitors are invited to activate buttons to play unique sounds complemented by lights radiating out from the top of the floats. Synced with music, these floats become a form of beacons reminding visitors of the convergence in and out of the port of call, our country Singapore while welcoming them to our home.

Milenko Prvacki is one of Singapore’s foremost artists and art educators. He was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 2011, and Singapore’s Cultural Medallion for Visual Arts in 2012. He has exhibited extensively in Europe and USA since 1971, and in Singapore and the region since 1993. He has participated in major exhibitions, most notably the Biennale of Sydney (2006).

Ryf Zaini is an interactive installation artist. His unique art form blends engineering and art to create a seamless integration that is both conceptual and immersive. His installations involve different mediums, as he believes that art is ever changing. As technology becomes the catalyst, it changes the landscape of art making further, creating new hybrids of art.

Dr. Robert Casteels is a composer, conductor, pianist and educator who believes that these activities form an intertwined part of music making. Robert has conducted professional orchestras in 20 countries with a repertoire of 600 works ranging from the early classics to contemporary music. In 2001, he was awarded the Christoffel Plantin Prize, Flanders’ highest cultural award, for his cross-cultural research. — at i Light Singapore.
