When you have great interaction, this does two things that improve your SEO without having to work to do it. Broadway shows are back at our local theatre! Our season subscriber tickets are for the Saturday evening show, and I had been looking forward to actually leaving the house all week!
Like many performance arts venues, our theatre requires proof of vaccination and face masks…we felt safe there even though we were not socially distanced in the large crowd.
Fiddler on the Roof—this was my first time seeing it live! Most of the shows from our 2020-2021 season were able to be rescheduled, but two were not. So instead of Lion King and Oklahoma, Fiddler and Hairspray were booked—decent trade offs I’d say (I was iffy about seeing the reimagined Oklahoma anyway).
Nick is never all that excited for “classic-era” musicals—preferring instead more modern material—but I love ‘em. Between the amazing choreography and music that sounded familiar even to someone who didn’t grow up with musicals, we both thoroughly enjoyed this treat of a show!

I was reminded of this photo after watching a KSL News link sent by one of my subscribers. It might be one of the more frightening things I’ve watched. Just goes to show that some “Helicopter Moms” are more dangerous than others.
I haven’t had a “close” encounter with a Puma in the wild. This docile looking cat is at the Arizona Desert Museum. I have however seen them from a distance and even that experience was a bit unnerving. I was hiking alone (as usual) up the canyon at the end of Patagonia Lake in AZ when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. Up on the ridge, 200 feet away from me I saw the last half of a body melt into the scrub and said to myself, “sinewy body, buff-brown, long tail, only one character that fits that description”. When it happened again a couple of minutes later, I realized I was being paced and after it disappeared again I made an about face and headed back out. It may have been a case of over abundant caution, but when by oneself and out of cell phone range, probably prudent.
There was another time when hiking in the mountains northeast of LA, when a hiker dogged me up the mountain, finally catching up, and saying “Mind if we hike together? You’re a big guy, I’m a little guy and I’m far less likely to be attacked if we are together.” I said, “Sure.”

Tonight David and I snuck away to get Erin's birthday present - not to be blipped because of course little Erin is a blip subscriber - and then we enjoyed a meal at one of our favorite spots. We've been going to this restaurant for so many years, and they've got great food and are always busy. We had an awesome waitress, too. Very nice evening, and a fun date. It's been awhile since we've had an impromptu date like that. It's nourishing (and fun!).
While at the restaurant we were having a quiet laugh over the very boisterous group of "cougars" at the table behind us. They were drinking heavily and enjoying the company of one another, but they were also sharing interesting stories at top decibel, including a tale involving a medical condition that could have been somewhat embarrassing to the teller if they were slightly less drunk.
This got me to thinking. They weren't sharing their evening with just their table, they were sharing it with the entire restaurant. And it was fun! We felt like we were with their group, in a way. Then that made me think about how neat the Internet is in that we can share with such a wide group of folks. It's as though we are sharing in a greater consciousness when we post and share our hearts and lives. A friend of mine just posted a blog about how upsetting it is to her that we are all so connected all the time with blogs and text messages and facebook... and I think she missed the point. We are all CONNECTED. It's glorious! We've moved so far away from the secretiveness of the past that we can share our excitement over our children and our puppies with new found friends in other countries. We are conscious that there are others in the world outside of ourselves, and I think that's what this sharing is all about. We are saying, here is my life, and I'm interested in yours, too. Our minds are opened because of this communication, and I appreciate it. Thank you, Internet! I love you. :)

I think that this is a juvenile Grasshopper Sparrow. The breast is unstreaked, ruling out Lincoln's Sparrow. There is a complete eyering and flattish head, characteristic of the Ammodramus sparrows (Grasshopper, LeConte's, etc). The facial pattern is pretty non-descript in fall juveniles, unlike the beady black eye in a plain face in adults in spring. I would consider juvenile LeConte's, but it is pretty early for them, and they should have some streaks on the breast and flanks.
