You may write me off and put me down

You may cast me to the floor

You may treat me like a piece of dirt

But like a bird I'll soar

You may throw your words like stones

You may shake me to the core

You may imprison me with fearfulness

But like a kite I'll soar

Saying no more to a life of tears

I soar into a new day

When clouds will clear

I soar, for I've finally found a friendly ear

I soar... I SOAR... I SOAR

Author unknown, however this poem was part of an advertisement in the UK regarding abuse.

I pray that none of you are in a situation of abuse, but if you are then tell someone and ask for help. You CAN soar into a new day.

......to many of you that are still suffering,

after 100 years when the first Women's day was celebrated many assume

things have changed... did they?

Even if you don't comment on my photo please do yourself a favor and watch this clip,

yes you too Ladies, it's a great thing to teach your children that we are all equal:-)

"Ever felt like a prisoner?

Listening to others,

Being told what to do,

How to live and behave,

Have no dreams

Follow their dreams,

Have you been abused?

Have you been raped?

Have you been beaten up?

Ever felt no one is there to listen to you,

Ghalya will listen to you,

Ghalya, is coming soon..

An angel to help you."

My charity project, for a lot of you out there this is a familiar name and for a lot its unknown. You can check the website here: www.ghalya-stopabuse.weebly.com

Coming soon enshalla for a launch.

For all those people, who can not and do not support my ideas please do not bother leaving sarcastic and cheap comments here and do not send me anonymous messages on the ghalya website. I received a very rude and cheap message left, read it:

"OMG R U EVEN SERIOUS WITH THE PICTURES U POST HERE? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL ugly-ness is written all over the pic's! HAHA ;)"

This is not only insulting but even hurtful. I am not going to use cosmetic surgery models here and show off their bodies naked. I am not going to use a perfecto model with a slim figure or Jennifer Lopez style model. So do not send me such cheap and disgusting messages. The website may not be very good, but does not leave you to make fun of me and my concept.

Grow up!

Hope to see your support!

Peace

"Poor fellow," said the gentleman, "he has hurt himself."

"I did that, sir," said a great lubberly fellow, stepping

forward; "and preciously I cut my knuckle gain' his mouth. I

stopped him, sir."

The fellow touched his hat with a grin, expecting something for his

pains; but the old gentleman eyeing him with an expression of disgust,

looked anxiously round ...

Dickens, Charles. Oliver Twist. London: Richard Bentley, 1839, p. 156-157.

There is something rather ironic and fitting about Charles

Dickens' 200th birthday being Safer Internet Day.

Even more curiously synchronistic, there was a workshop this afternoon

which I was lucky enough to attend on the topic of domestic violence

resources and best practices at the University of Michigan.

University of Michigan: Abuse Hurts:

They've won awards for this promotion, are sharing the content and and

suggestions with other institutions. It isn't unusual for them to be

contacted by people seeking assistance who are actually not part of

our University community. This means you should all take a look at it,

even if you aren't local to the area I'm in. You just might learn a

thing or two, or get ideas for use in your own community. On the Stop

Abuse website, they promoted information from last month and last

week's activities on stalking awareness.

National Stalking Awareness Month (January):

www.stalkingawarenessmonth.org/

They also included information on the local Safe House, quite a lot of

information during the presentation. SafeHouse (unlike what is

anticpated by popular opinion) actually focuses on the SAFETY of the

people involved, not a given response that doesn't change for the

situation.

Safe House Center:

This brings us full circle, back to the Google home page, and safety,

and internet safety in particular. On today's Google home page, in

addition to celebrating Charles Dickens, Google included a brief quiet

statement under the search box about Safer Internet Day.

If you clicked on that, it took you to a collection of resources from

Google to help families help keep each other safe in their online

excursions.

Good stuff, folk. Worth checking out.

DNA Foundation T-shirt Challenge

Freedom is a basic human right and slavery is one of the greatest threats to that freedom. The DNA Foundation is launching an awareness campaign called "Real Men Don't Buy Girls" in order to educate people about the realities of child sex slavery and to create a cultural shift in our society around the buying and selling of humans, children in particular. You can help us bring sex slavery out of the shadows and into the spotlight by helping us spread the message that Real Men Don't Buy Girls.

There will be two winning designs chosen. One will be available on Threadless, the other will be available at Steven Alan stores and stevenalan.com. 25% of each product sold will go to the DNA Foundation. We at Threadless would like to thank Steven Alan for introducing us to DNA to help make this design challenge happen.

Believing that freedom is a basic human right, Demi Moore

and Ashton Kutcher founded the Foundation (DNA) to raise awareness about child sex slavery, change the cultural stereotypes that facilitate this horrific problem, and support survivors.
