It was absolutely brilliant getting so close to
Liberty Island with Hornblower cruises, when
we were in New York. :-))))
I lift my lamp... dammit!!
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, ... I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
This is a panorama of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty taken from Liberty State Park during a storm (the remnants of Hurricane Joaquin on October 3, 2015). The sky was the most interesting and colorful blue hour I'd ever seen, with blue, orange and pink colors.
The lights of New York City were reflecting off of the low clouds in the left part of the photo. The Empire State Building and Chrysler Building can be seen in that area to the left. Also, the lights of One World Trade Center were also reflecting off of the clouds near the middle of the photo.

The original photo is a panorama of 12 overlapping photos, which were merged together in PTGui. The Statute of Liberty was taken from a shorter exposure (it is very bright at night relative to everything else). With the 30+ mph gusts, a couple of individual photos were slightly blurred. After this trip I bought a long lens support bracket and upgraded my tripod.
