We met this darling baby tortoise during a walk on Sardegna. It was hardly as big as a thumb and surely just hatched, as the shell was perfectly shiny without any scratches or dust from crawling through its grass and bush habitat.
An absolutely enchanting surprise to see!

At sunrise, formations of Snow and Ross's Geese fly off the refuge to forage in fields every day. The geese spend nights at the refuge, in water, on ponds to avoid predators.
