The R.C.T.S./S.E.G. Joint Charter from London Waterloo, 'The Birmingham Boomerang' used 'Slim Jim' Class 33/2 33207, recorded at Wolverhampton.
The 1Z27 Charter left Waterloo at 08:00 and travelled via Kew and Acton to reach Willesden, continuing via Northampton, Coventry and Nuneaton to reach Birmingham New Street. Running via Lifford Junctions it looped back via the Camp Hill Line to run via Bromford Bridge and Sutton Park to reach Walsall and then to Wolverhampton. Onwards via Wellington and Sutton Bridge Junction, the Charter headed south via Hereford and the Severn Tunnel to reach Dr Days Junction, then back to London via Bathampton Junction, Chippenham, Swindon, Reading Wokingham and Twickenham, a journey of over 468 miles.
